Engels GrandCafé Restaurant
(2)
Engels is one of those places you have to visit if you have the opportunity to be passing through the Dutch city of Rotterdam. For starters, it is a classic place, with over 50 years of history and, secondly, inside they combine the historical past with the present of modern cuisine. They even have a Spanish restaurant on the ground floor. But then also, if you go in summer, you will find a rooftop terrace where you can enjoy your food with wonderful views, with a lovely panoramic view of the city of Erasmus.

Bazar

Rotterdam is a very cosmopolitan city. This restaurant serves exotic North African or Middle Eastern cuisine. The décor lamps deserve special attention. It's a place frequented by locals. The restaurant, which is also a hotel, is located on the street of Withstraat Witte, known for its art galleries, designer shops and festival held in August, which combines the sale of beer and art with lights and lanterns.

Wunderbar
This street is lively and edgy, with plenty of bars and art galleries. Enjoy the terrace in good weather, and watch the motley cyclists passing by! The deal was complicated, but I opted for a lamb sausage, pork in a vinegar with salad, and a small but tasty slice of homemade chocolate cake. Best thing: Timmermans cold cherry beer, and the atmosphere. By the way, the bathrooms are dingy, vinyl films are rented and the condition of the interior is grunge, must see (after eating).

Zenne
Zenne has a stunning location at Veerhaven harbour overlooking the Maas River, the Erasmus Bridge, and the De Rotterdam building. If you want to get a drink while enjoying a priceless sunset, it's the place. They primarily serve Turkish food but I didn't get the chance to try any.

Restaurant Stockholm
The restaurant Stockholm has one of the busiest terraces in Rotterdam...if it's a Saturday and the weather is nice, it'll be almost impossible to find a table. They serve international cuisine like seafood and risotto, but most people just come for a coffee or a beer in the sun while overlooking the historic old harbor and its boats below the cube houses.

Memory Lane
In Rotterdam, and the Netherlands in general, you will find modern premises easily, and with a "chic" environment because of very careful design and decor (and this is something they share with their Nordic neighbors). Although it is unusual to find rich dishes in Dutch cuisine, its very common to find a wide variety of gourmet sandwiches, and simple dishes made from high quality, locally-sourced products. The coffee and sweets are a specialty, like in Memory Lane, which is located in the city of Rotterdam. Just entering Memory Lane makes you realize that the experience will be enjoyable. An aroma of freshly baked bread, and baked apple pie in a cozy, and intimate atmosphere. Candles and holders on the rustic wooden tables, an open kitchen to the public, where you can see the bread prepared, and on sunny days, the space is filled with a magical light through huge windows. Memory Lane is very romantic and relaxed, where you can have a local cheese board or a good homemade sweet. In addition to breakfast and lunch menus, with dinner of "nibbes" of cheese, sausage, ham ... The wine is highly recommended. And in the summer you can also enjoy the terrace for breakfast or a romantic dinner.

Caffe Italia
We're in one of the liveliest squares where there are restaurants with terraces and each offers a different kind of food. Its Italian, of course, with the same menu as any other, with a reasonable price for the location, 20 euros per person for a pasta dish with wine.

Schmidt Zeevis
Schmidt Zeevis is one of the most interesting places for shopping and eating fish in Rotterdam. This fishmongers delicatessen and small restaurant (Lunch Corner) has been serving the best fish in town for over 100 years. It is located near the Erasmus Bridge (Erasmusbrug) whether you want to try local specialty fish sandwiches (salmon, tuna, shrimp Dutch ...), or eat some traditional Dutch snacks such as the kibbeling and haring (Nieuwe haring). It is also highly recommended if you want to taste the most exquisite sea delicacies like oysters, caviar, or lobster; or enjoy a delicious sashimi. Prices, although not particularly cheap, are very acceptable given the high quality product. It is not to be missed if you love seafood. Besides food, the beer, wine, and champagne menu is very interesting. And do not forget that besides small restaurant, it's a perfect place to buy fresh fish or gourmet delicatessen products. Schidmt Zeevis is one of the local fish and seafood most popular of Rotterdam and is visited both by tourists and by roterdameses, and really worth a visit.

De Tuin
Nestled in the woods of Kralingse (Kralingse Bos) De Tuin is a bar, restaurant and patio worth a visit, especially during good weather and summer. It is a favourite of locals and tourists because of the lake view (Kralingse Plas) and the unique forest. In De Tuin you can have anything from beer, wine, soft drinks or even vermouth, and relax on one of the sofas overlooking the lake. But it is also a good place to eat, or enjoy a romantic dinner. The menu includes salads, gourmet sandwiches, and local dishes with typical Dutch snacks. Its also a great place to enjoy a brunch (see chart brunch) and a full breakfast (see breakfast menu). With a reservation, its a venue to host parties and celebrations, too. In De Tuin, organize your own barbecue, buffet, or book to celebrate your party because they have menus for groups. It regularly organizes events and parties with DJs and music. The food is very good, and the menu varied. It is especially worth a visit because the views are stunnings and because from here you can enjoy one of the best views of the city of Rotterdam. Open from 10.00 to 00.00 h, every day of the week.

Bar Eetcafe de Broers
A gorgeous place with a great atmosphere, and a terrace to recharge the batteries, where you can grab a cold beer, red fruits, or enjoy brunch on Sunday morning. The interior is old and cozy, but people come to have brunch on the terrace in the sun. Upstairs is the NH Centre, and Cathedral Square is minutes away.

Stadsbrouwerij De Pelgrim
Pelgrim is the brand of craft beer produced in Rotterdam, and its factory is in the historic district of Delfshaven. Currently, Pelgrim is a beer brand, but also an active factory to visit, with a bar and restaurant for drinks, lunch, or dinner. It can also be used for private celebrations because it has private rooms and an indoor garden. The factory produces 6 different types of beers you can buy, or taste at the bar or terrace. In addition, many of the menu items are made with beer. The Pelgrim factory organizes tours for groups from 8 persons, and also includes tasting tours. But if you just want to go to try the beer and visit on your own, the facilities are open to the public, and it is highly recommended to try the pack of 5 beers. For €5 you can taste the beers they produce and serve in small size (roughly the size of a shot, as you can see in the photos) so you can try them all. The name Pelgrim means pilgrim in Dutch, and has its origin in the English word "Pilgrim". The "Pilgrim Fathers", hence the word, was the group of English Puritans after emigrating to Holland, traveled to America during the seventeenth century, from 1620 (on 21 July this year, the first trip was America). In Rotterdam, specifically Delfshaven, was the area where most pilgrims gathered, and this was where they began their journey to the New World. In fact, in Delfshaven, right next to the Brewery, you can still visit the old Pilgrim Church (Oude of Pelgrimvaderskerk) that remembers the distant past of the city. Getting there: You can take tram 4 or the underground to Delfshaven. Tuesday to Sunday, from 12 to 24 h. Closed Mondays.

Rotown Rotterdam

This is a trendy bar and restaurant featuring live local music. The atmosphere is great, with books and records on display, a real mixture of culture, music and art. I tried the restaurant, and the food is a mix of different cultures, with plenty of flavours on offer; good quality food. They offer a great monthly programme of live music.
