Very good quality in terms of price quality ratio. They have several different menus and prices that are not very expensive and quite nice food. The staff are superb. The steak is fine, but certainly elsewhere is better although it is also more expensive. Highly recommended although the rooms are not all that.
Located in the heart of Avila, this rustically decorated restaurant offers a variety of menus and prices to suit all tastes. Given its location, it is perfect to make a stop for lunch and to visit the city and continue after lunch.
It’s a mythical place in Ávila. There’s no better place to eat a t-bone steak, yokes, and Iberian ham. Very original, very Castillan. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth it. We went toe at in its garden when we were Young, as it’s located next to the river and filled with ducks.
Next to the square Plaza del Mercado, you'll find Restaurant Chico with the style 'house of foods' but better range. Price adjusted and decent food for the price. The presentation is also good. Having tables under the arcades of the square helps, especially in summer.
This is a fantastic restaurant, we loved it!! The good thing about going to a resort town on any given day during the week is that you can always find restaurant and in our case, the owner saw us reading the menu outside and offered us free coffee to encourage us to come into his restaurant and so we did ...
The Bullring restaurant is nicely decorated inside, and differs in each of their 4 dining rooms, using materials such as stone or brick, and without forgetting that the building dates back to 1960. Its most typical and most sought are: Charolais beef ribeye, roast suckling pig or goat lining, as well as typical entrees from Avila such as the typical Castilian soup, 'patatas revolconas,' or the beans of the Barco de Avila, with local meat. We tried almost all the most typical dishes ... such As ... 'patatas Revolconas', T-bone steak of Avila ... And all this was yummy!!
Ávila is famous through Spain for its "chuletones", massive 2lbs. porterhouse steaks from locally-raised cows served grilled. Almost every bar and restaurant in Ávila boasts chuletones, but one of the best and most recommended by the locals is Las Cancelas, the restaurant of a small hotel occupying a historic palace.
For starters, we ordered "sopa castellana," a hearty, warming soup that's traditional in central Spain and is made with a savory broth, bread, and pork. It's simple comfort food, but it hits the spot on a cold day. Then we had the meat: the menu offers porterhouses, roast lamb (another Ávila specialty), roast suckling pig, and pork loin, but you have to get the steaks since you're in Ávila. They came out perfectly cooked, tender, smoky, and well-seasoned. I even had a hard time finishing mine it was so big!
Starters, steaks, and a good bottle of regional wine for two came out to around 80 euros. Not the cheapest in town, I admit, but well worth it. In touristy towns, it's usually a good bet to spend a tad more and really savor the authentic local specialty than opt for the cheaper tourist-oriented stuff. 100% recommended!
I recommend this place to eat in Avila, I have already been a couple of times. There are lots of starters to choose from on the menu but what is striking is the great variety of meats from around the world, such as kangaroo, gazelle .... wow! And another thing to try is the ostrich egg!
The quality of its raw materials, its restoration, its location, next to the walls, as well as the architecture of a house restored, along with the excellent treatment by professionals, makes it this my favorite restaurant every time I visit this beautiful city, and for 30€. I have a nap until 6:00pm at the Las Leyendas Hotel, wonderful place. They are also the owners who take care of you during your stay. Dinner on the terrace, what a pleasure.
While touring Avila, I was surprised when a man dressed in black appoarched us kindly. He was the maitre-waiter-promoter, and he lured us in brilliantly, we could not resist entering. The truth is we ate wonderfully, Castilian soup, white beans, potatoes and of course ... the famous steak of Avila, all for a little more than 40 €. Highly recommended ;)
Deception, I went to Avila thinking of a good steak and cochinillo, we found highly priced vines, low quality steak and the suckling pig seemed precooked and just warmed up. In Avila Overall we found low quality and high price, focused on tourism
This is an exceptional place, open to the general public, which is unknown, where you can eat well and fast. It has toasts, burgers, pastas and excellent broken eggs for between 6 or 10 euros. The staff are charming. A unique environment in the city of Avila.
Starting with the palomita, a tapa of pork scratchings and a terrific salad, to the desserts, the Palomar is a great place to eat . They have several menus from 12-24 €, which are all delicious. For the carnivores: the famous ribeye steak is the best and it's pretty reasonably priced.
