Right in the Flon neighborhood is this young and modern restaurant. When there is good weather, they open up the terrace and create a very cozy atmosphere. Noted for its fusion cuisine and original presentation of the dishes, like as salad in a jar to be removed. Furthermore, the dishes are delicious and you can have a most enjoyable dinner. When it's getting late, the atmosphere is tending towards a more "night life", with music and with more of a cocktail bar atmosphere than restaurant. Its very nice!
On the top floor of the Olympic Museum you can find the restaurant. It is a special place where you can eat in the most pleasant way, surrounded what is more by a green garden. The food is good and the menu is varied, making it a good choice to end the morning after having an interesting visit to the Museum.
Next to the Plaza de la Palud is a typical Swiss restaurant called Cafe Du Grutli. The servers are pleasant, friendly and prompt. You can eat everything from a fondue to a tête de beau with tartar sauce. Very central and convenient.
For those who like good barbecued beef, I won't hesitate to recommend this restaurant, where the meat is soft, succulent, and delicious. The meats come directly from Argentina, vacuum-packed to keep them fresh until consumption. The wine is also a very nice Argentinian selection, however it is a little bit pricey for Portugal - a bottle costs about 40 euros.
The AO restaurant is a truly magnificent site. It is a short walk from the Notre-Dame and near the metro station "Pont Bessires". Modern and refined, well-maintained and with delicious food - and the prices are very good, considering. The last time I went there, I tried the beef tartare, which was great. There's a wonderful selection of wines from all over Europe (Switzerland, France, Spain, Italy...). Try it!
Situated in one of the up and coming places that's more characteristic of Lausanne, the St. Géry Café is the ideal place to go for special dinners because of its relaxed atmosphere and excellent cuisine. I recommend the mussels and fries, which are their specialty. In general, all the dishes are good. The price is not cheap, but for the Swiss offer is correct. If Swiss dinner time, best to book. But Spanish time table usually found easily and is even quieter. One of the best things about this site is that you can be the last customer, but never feel you have to leave so they can close.
The Minuit Soleil is an ideal place for a romantic dinner or dinner with friends before a night out. They've got a great kitchen that features dishes from diverse backgrounds (although they themselves define it as "Southern") at affordable prices. Always lively and often better to book ahead.
