Mr. Whiskers is one of the best catfish restaurants in the area. It's a local contender with Huck's Catfish, another popular catfish eatery. It is a little bit off of the beaten path, but well worth the trip. When you come in, seating is first-come, first-serve so if you see an open table go ahead and sit down. Be sure that the previous occupants are not just at the buffet, though! The staff is wonderful and attentive. This is a family atmosphere with all-you-can-eat menu options for roughly $13, and includes sides, fries, and hushpuppies. Sides are served buffet style and come with every meal. They are not always the same, so Mr. Whiskers gets a lot of repeat customers. The hushpuppies have diced jalapenos in them which gives them a reasonable kick. They also have chicken, shrimp and a burgers available.
This is a great place for families with hungry kids! It is reasonably priced and you get a lot of food for your dollar. Just a few things to note, they do not currently take credit cards, so be sure to bring cash or a check with you. They also do not serve alcohol, but will allow customers to bring in a six-pack of beer or a bottle of wine to enjoy with their dinner. The restaurant is smoke free.
Huck's is a local favorite hot spot for fried catfish. It's so popular, that many people travel from Dallas to experience the crispy, flaky fish. The building is just off highway 75, although you can't see it from the road. It is decorated with plenty of trinkets to keep you entertained while you wait. Expect about a 20 to 45 minute wait especially if you are coming on a weekend during prime dining hours, and bring your appetite! They have trivia cards on the table to keep you entertained while you wait for your meal.
In addition to catfish, they also have shrimp, crab, and salmon dishes. There is also a kids menu to satisfy the pickiest of eaters. They serve soft drinks, tea, and coffee and are smoke free. This is a great place to bring the family.
Try the catfish with their relish and a piece of onion in every bite. It sounds strange, but tastes so good! Their sides are delicious, but be sure to check the menu as not all sides are offered every day. A two piece is plenty as the fillets are pretty big. Save room for desert, as they have a variety of cooler flavors!
Located in the clubhouse of Grayson County Golf Club, Angela's Cafe offers a taste of a home cooked meal without the work! Their Sunday buffet offers a bountiful variety to please any pallet. It is a great place to stop and eat before or after a round of golf.
You definitely want to make a reservation as large groups typically eat there, and without one you may not be able to be seated. The restaurant is open during the week to offer lunch and dinner. There is even a cookbook available with some of the cafe's popular dishes.
Seating overlooks the course's lake. Comfortable outdoor tables under the awning offer protection from the elements as you enjoy your meal and the view! Don't forget to check the pro - shop for course fees and events!
The North Rig Grill (or, "The Rig") is among Denison's nicer restaurants, while still maintaining a reasonable cost for a nice meal. Either casual or formal, it is a great spot for a date night, or to reconnect with friends. You may see young adults dining in their formal wear during prom season! Don't be too deceived by this as it is a regular hang out for local motorcycle clubs. hey are more well known for their steak dinner. They serve Grade A Angus, and the interior is nicely decorated. Their salads are delicious and perfect for a quick lunch, or just eating healthy.
The lounge has shaded outdoor seating with a large screen television! This makes it a fantastic spot to watch local favorite games. Their prices are a bit higher than typical chain restaurants, but I feel the quality of food is also higher in quality. I have visited several times and the food has always been fresh and flavorful.
