This is by far the best restaurant in East Uruguay. Located few blocks from the Lighthouse of Jose Igancio, this parador is incomparable. It is always full, and you have to book by phone, even though it is getting bigger. You eat so spectacularly and pay well. For people who are star spottersit is highly recomemended. There aren't any famous Buenos Aires people that do not eat there. I've seen, Susana Gimenez, the daughter of Legrand, Gustavo Cerati ... The most amazing was Naomi Campbell. The food is great, grilled fish, vegetables ... Sushi. Highly recommended for its location. It is on the beach, and as seen in the photos, one can enjoy the landscape, sand, everything.
I would recommend going to dinner here. Lost in the forests, Jose Ignacio (near Punta del Este) is a fine dining restaurant. The atmosphere couldn't be better. The tables are separated like chocks and they're even candlelit. The food is varied and exclusive. I wouldn't say that it's for everyone because it's not particularly cheap, but you've got to go there one day.
In one corner of the popular neighborhood of Pocitos you can find this wonderful ice cream shop. It is handmade and is an exceptional, highly recommended! The caramel sabayon temptation and Italian are two of the ice creams that I would recommend to try.
PUERTO JOAQUIN restaurant is at the Top of the CERRO SAN ANTONIO, so imagine the view you have while eating. It has international cuisine but also you can go to have tea or a drink with some delicious snack at sunset. It has tables outside, and a pool that guests can use. The view is fantastic, because it overlooks the city of Piriapolis with its beaches. It is perfect for a "romantic meal". It is open all year round from 9.30am until 2am. Prices are mid-high and they do not accept cards for payment.
This is a unique restaurant in Uruguay. I think a lot of the food in the country is a bit repetitive but at this restaurant, it was really flavorful. The Uruguayans eat a lot of really good quality meat which is nice. I definitely recommend Partridge restaurant. You won´t regret it!
The El Santo is a unique restaurant that is located in the heart of the historic quarter of Colonia del Sacramento, which has the distinction of offering only four dishes all of which that are cooked over a wood fire, which is the traditional uraguayan grill. - Swordfish marinated in soy and two peppers. - Sirloin, served with El Santo sauce. - pollock with lemon and soy sauce. - Pollack El Santo. To accompany Lead Potatoes served with five berries and salads. For dessert: home made lemon ice cream.
YO YO is a restaurant. It can be found one block from the boardwalk, where you can try CHIVITOS (the famous Uruguayan sandwich) to a good paella or any kind of seafood. The place is nice, you can sit on the street if you want and the prices are average. Example: A Chivito sandwich with thin beef steak, ham, tomato, lettuce and fries with a drink: 16€. It is a good option for a fast meal and it is not too heavy, something that you can eat and later go back to the beach if you want.
If you go to Montevideo I recommend going to the ice cream shop Artigiano. In the center of Pocitos with a view of the famous Rambla, this is a place you must visit. Inside it is very comfortable with a good atmosphere and the ice cream is exquisite. In winter you can also have a capuchinno and cakes. One of its peculiarities is that this shop is that they have brought together ice cream for kids and adults, called Delidrops. They are in the form of little balls and frozen at -40 degrees, which makes it the coldest ice cream in the world.
The Roundabout in Piriapolis, is a lively and busy place, located just off the beach and as the name implies, at the roundabout that takes you back through the busy boulevard. The owners are lovely people and the majority seem to be excellent guitarists and singers ..... they have a vast repertoire of songs, when you go in the evenings ..... They offer a firewood grill, Spiedo, Spit Corrido, Chivitos, Pizzas and even a salad bar at decent prices, excellent service and extremely pleasant and fun. If you dare, you can sing whatever you want. It´s a great place to spend a few hours. It is a good choice to eat something quick and tasty while you taking a break from the beach.
I love ice cream, and this Uruguayan chain makes great varieties. There are several outlets in Montevideo, with a huge number of flavours, making it impossible to choose just one ... but if I had to recommend something, it would be the dulce de leche. Be sure to try it!
What a charming place! It's popular and full of old ladies willing to sweeten life! Cake's is famous in Montevideo for it's cakes and sweets that are a delight and the portions are so generous that it is best to share. There's a variety of teas, juices, and Italian cappuccino, and served in a crystal glass that I'd recommend. For €10 we had a stupendous meringue, caramel and dark chocolate cake, a couple of coffees and mineral water. Not cheap, but Montevideo is an expensive city. Also if you go on a Thursday, there is a fashion show (fashion for mature age bracket) and then do a mixed raffle with cosmetics, kitchenware, plants, and even a trip. Hilarious, I think I'll go back.
This charming and pretty cafe attracted us with its good decorations. I loved the way they have joined housing and business. The sunlight coming through the roof, rolls, and delicious cookies, internet, coffee, and good conversation with good friends, who needs more? Near the cafe at the front, also we found a few small, very tasteful shops with a few articles!
This incredible place is located in [poi = 110171] Casapueblo [/ poi] and the owner describes it as "the artist´s corner", with its turquoise walls, arches, door frames and carved wooden windows, round type windows and square portholes facing the blue sea and the cliffs, or traditional windows which open onto the terraces. The Gibellini Ristorante, in Colonia del Sacramento is located on a classic and very pretty corner of this old Uruguayan city, is decorated in a different way .....it seems like a family home, where there are antique ornaments, vinyl records on the walls, cabinets with many objects, etc.. You see an old car parked on a street, on a corner, in an old very special building. Even if you are not going to eat there, take a look around, it is a different place ....
The Delyacht Restaurant is located in a great area, near to the river and with breathtaking views. You can enjoy good quality fish and seafood dishes. The service is friendly and medium high prices. It is tastefully decorated with motifs that have to do with sports.
