Bar Zavood is an incredible find in Tartu. After a pleasant meeting with some other Spanish people, at the end of the night we were taken to a strange bar tucked into a roadblock. Bar Zavood is a ramshackle bar, made out of different materials from other places. Its name is the Russian word for "factory." The bar attracts a casual alternative to its price and is very, very affordable. It's not unusual to see performances by bands when you're there. Also, they say that a certain clientele from the administration and government show up, too. You never know. It's very nice. Beware- the beers disappear before the money!
It's a typical Irish pub with all kinds of beers and such, but what stands out is the food: they have pasta, salads, soups, some meat and fish dishes and many dishes to accompany your beer. A plate of pasta carbonara cost 4.20 euros and you can accompany this with a tapa that doesn't cost more than three euros.
