It is situated 300 meters above sea level. It has an a beauty unmatched to anything else due to the formation of stalactites and stalagmites. This cave is part of a complex that includes another series of caves like Leonora `s Cave and Lower St Michael` s Cave. It´s a place you must visit.
The Tunnels of World War II were constructed before the belief that the Rock of Gibraltar would be attacked because it was surrounded by German and Italian troops. Because the idea of a military attack, they people thought they had to build a network of tunnels to improve zone defense because it was considered a strategic point for controlling the entrances and exits to the Mediterranean. In these tunnels during the Second World War in the year 1941, Winston Churchill, Eisenhower and his military chiefs devised and planned the invasion of North Africa, which was called Operation Torch. Until May of 2005, these tunnels were not open to the public, but from then on you can visit.
