The Gothic castle was built in Lidzbark Warmiński in 1350-1401 and for many years was the residence of the bishops of Warmia. After the inclusion of Warmia in Poland in the fifteenth century, it became the residency of many kings. The sixteenth century fortress stopped being used and became the court ducal residence, containing rich furnishings and decoration. Within the castle there's a museum, explaining the castles' history and there are also portraits of the kings, as well as furniture and kitchen service. Admission is very cheap and for just under 2 € you can rent a period costume, and take pictures, both inside and in the courtyard, it's fun! The castle is well preserved!
