The beautiful Sequoias can be found in in California. They are considered the largest trees in the world and are over 2200 years old . Measuring almost 1500m3, they were given their name after a famous general in the Civil War. There's a short hiking trail through the park to see these trees and other large ones. Tourists have fun trying to get far enough back to photograph a whole tree but it's impossible!
The opponent of General Sherman, the two trees are fighting for the title of largest tree in the park. But while it may only be the second largest, it has the honorary title of America's Christmas Tree, and is decorated every year for the holiday season. It is named after another general of the Civil War (but still on the side of the Union). Younger than Sherman, it is between 1,500 and 2,000 years old and the trunk is about 1320 m3. Again, you can reach it by following a hiking trail.
