However, in 2004, both teams left the pyramid to move to a new stadium, the FedEx Forum. After the basketball teams left the stadium, the pyramid was unoccupied with no long-term plans. Martin Luther King was assassinated here in 1968. He was shot from a building opposite the railing while talking to the people who came to salute him. They kept everything as it was and made it a Civil Rights Museum. The video of the Reverend who was with him at the time of his death is impressive. Overwhelming.
