This resort is from the hotel chain Voyages, and is the only accommodation available to the area of Kings Canyon. In fact it is the only place that's hundreds of miles around and as such, covers the entire spectrum of budgets, from a campsite to luxury rooms. As this was our honeymoon, we had just over budget, so we chose the luxury option. The major attraction of these rooms is that jacuzzi overlooking the desert. Simply unbeatable.

We got to Darwin by going through to Ivan's Backpacker. At the reception area you can plan to go on day trips for the next three days. They had different excursions with all stays and duration to Kakadu Park and various local activities. They had pool and the rooms were shared with the potential to double with private bath. Backpacker atmosphere.
It's situated a little bit far away from the city center, but this hostel I discovered through a friend is one I'll never forget because it was very surprising. From the entrance, it's like being in the heart of a tropical garden, as if the sky had fallen in the forest. This makes it very nice and relaxing and the atmosphere is rather zen, although slightly warm. It is a nice accommodation, cheap but not with much comfort and hygiene. I recommend it to lovers of nature and backpackers.
Right in the heart of Hidden Valley, just 15 minutes away from Darwin, you'll find a tourist park that not only offers a high quality accommodation, but also a great pool and excellent service to go along with it. It has space for numerous caravans and tents, and kitchen areas and BBQ (free!). The place is perfectly positioned. In summary, I recommend this camping season, but warn that high season is not sure he can stay there for the weather and prices.
The perfect and cheapest accommodation in Alice Springs, where you can have a rest on your way to Ayers Rock. This backpackers hotel has everything you need to relax and have a perfect stay in the capital of central Australia. The rooms are old, but have AC, TV and are cleaned every day. You can swim in the pool, wash your clothes, make some BBQ ribs or choose one of the dishes at the bar, or check your e-mail from computers that they have at reception. In the evening the bar is full of young people from all over the world, and you can hear reggae music, in a young atmosphere that is relaxed. Laughter and good cheer. A perfect place to stay in groups. The breakfast is included in the room rate and it is more than backpacking, you have everything at your disposal but you have to make your coffee, your toast, your eggs or your sandwich and then clean what you used and leave everything clean. They have free shuttle service to the airport and the city center (15 min. walking) They also offer varied discounted bus tours and a visit with the same good atmosphere throughout the area.
Music, happiness, and inexpensive food are all some of the charms that draw crowds of young and not so young people to this cafe/bar/restaurant, in the hostel of the same name. The interior has large tables and benches, and the outdoor patio is cool and calm. Prices are excellent; you can eat well here for 5 Australian dollars.
Like any poor traveler, I checked several hostels in Darwin before making a choice. I was impressed by Melaleuca for two reasons: not only is it the most striking modenr hostel in the neighbourhood, but it's also a very cozy, comfortable site. It's nice to wallow in the western comforts on offer here, although I must admit, there are some things that are not what I expected from a trip to Australia, as it's not as natural as I had hoped.
If you're looking for a shaded campsite near Darwin, here you go! The large trees provide freshness to any traveler, protecting them from the heat of the dry season. Be careful, though; the place is nice, but it can be quite expensive to stay here. The sanitation blocks have been renovated and are well-kept, and there's a good-sized pool and barbecue places. My stay, however, wasn't great: I arrived in the middle of the monsoon season, and the heavy rains caused huge problems on the unpaved roads. So choose the right time of year to go!
In the dry season, the cost of living in Darwin doubles. Like many other people, we prefer camping as a way to keep prices down. So we came to Boomerang, which has some reasonable prices, and you can book online months in advance. It's one of the nicest parks I've ever seen - the owners are friendly, everything is comfortable, and the atmosphere is friendly and warm (there are charity barbecues every week, and you're always able to join the manager for a beer at the pool table). Recommended.
The pool, surrounded by palm trees, gives a tropical feel to this excellent hotel, located in the centre of Darwin. Spacious, well-appointed rooms, disabled access, restaurants, meeting rooms, fitness suites and spa are among the many facilities on offer, as well as a washer, and a kitchen and barbecue for guests.
A 4 star resort, in the middle of nowhere and really close to Uluru. There are 5 hotels to choose from, and this is the most expensive. The resort includes an area where you can sign up for tours and excursions of all sorts. The hotel restaurants are great, with a spectacular buffet breakfast. Undoubtedly the best option if you're on your honeymoon (as we were).
