This little cottage is located on the shores of Lake Urajärvi (the owner told us that it is the third cleanest of Finland, which has over 150,000 lakes). The price is not excessive, especially for being in one of the most expensive countries in Europe. It is a typical Finnish cottage, built in wood and its own sauna. There is no running water, but along with the keys you receive several liters of water (depending on how long you are staying). It doesn't have running water nor a shower, but it has its own pier, and as I said before, the water is very clean. Rather than a regular toilet there is an "ecotoilet" (you can use this without any problem). By the way, it also includes a small rowboat.
Recently, I have gone to this town due to work and I stayed at this hotel. The treatment was fantastic and whenever I needed something it was given to me without any extra cost. This is a small hotel in the center of the town of Rauma, close to everything and affordable (if you compare it to other hotels around) and with a fantastic service. Good rooms, one notices that they have been recently redecorated, with sauna, good wifi. Breakfast (buffet). HD TV in rooms with USB connection and free private parking.
In the charming village of Levi, in northern Finland, there is a peculiar place, the Panorama Hotel. This hotel is distinguished by its location at the highest point on the mountain and ski slopes. If you spend a few days in Levi, you can go to dinner at the on-site Okta restaurant and enjoy a nice view from the top of the mountain. The food is not anything special, but the environment is really worth it.
This hotel-villa is located in Saariselka. The rooms have specially-designed glass igloos to see the Northern Lights at night. It's magical. In the village there is also the possibility of sleeping in ice igloos. Personally, I prefer the heat!
The dinner in the ice restaurant is a great experience. They also have a sauna which is great, especially when you have experienced Lapland: when you get out of the sauna you have to put on socks (in order to not burn your feet!) And go running through the snow to plunge into the lake water, which you can see through the hole in the ice.
A good hotel in a great location for visiting Helsinki, right next to the Kamppi metro station. It is a stylish establishment, from the building to the elevator. Everything is very well-maintained. It has 262 rooms, all very spacious, clean, and well-equipped with all the amenities you could need in a hotel. There's a choice of 20 different room designs, and there's a sauna in which you can relax after a hard day's sightseeing. Other features include a business centre, a decent restaurant, and a bar where you can have a drink or a snack. They have an express laundry service (3 hours), a huge breakfast buffet, free wifi throughout the hotel, and a terrace right at the entrance where you can enjoy the warmer weather.
Just off the reception is a small bar with coffee and quick snacks, if you don't have time for breakfast. There's an express-checkout available, if you need to leave the hotel and don't have time to go through reception; late checkout is offered, too, allowing you to wait until 6pm before you leave. All in all, a very recommendable hotel, not too expensive and well located. The cathedral, for example, is about a 15-20 minute walk away and the airport by taxi (40 euros) takes about 25 minutes. It is also just 10 minutes from the train station. if you leave your suitcase to collect later that day, they won't charge you as many other hotels do.

Maalakias is a residential complex of Savonlinna. It is located 2 miles from downtown. During the school year it houses students from the University of Applied Sciences Mikkeli there that has a campus in the city of Savonlinna. In the summer, it becomes a tourist residence with apartments consisting of one room with a large kitchen and bathroom. There are other apartments connected by the kitchen with shared bathrooms. It is an affordable way to spend the summer holidays in this city since the prices of hotels and hostels goes up a lot in the summer season, especially when during the famous opera festival which happens in the city's castle, Olavinlinna. It costs approximately 60 euros per night in an apartment or room for two people, and is 5 minutes walk from the shore of a lake where you can relax, and there is also a washer and dryer in the common room with iron, and a nearby supermarket ... If you want to know more about Savonlinna you can take a look at my other sites about the city and the church there, Olavinlinna Savonlinna.
We reserved this hotel by chance, and it turned out to be a wonderful surprise. It's a 4-star hotel located a few steps away from the Senate. The rooms are beautiful - bright, modern, and spacious. The floor is parquet, the beds are queen-size, and there's a huge bathroom with double sinks. We chose to order breakfast, and it was very filling: a lot of cakes, yogurts, cereals, breads, meats and fruits. The staff were very polite and friendly - when we arrived, there was a nice personalised welcome message on the TV in the room. The location turned out to be ideal for visiting the city, in fact, the hotel is just minutes from the port and the train station. The view from the window of my room was magnificent: in the morning I could wake up and see the white dome of the cathedral.
