Cerro da Fontinha Rural Cottage was another accommodation that fascinated me during my visit to Alentejo. It is located on the other side of the country. Situated to the little beach, near the coast and Vincentian. It is the Algarve. Alentejo also has the beach and well worth visiting. This cottage was built in compliance with the provisions of the Alentejo. It is constructed of white adobe wall. It is a small houses plan made of several rooms in a superb natural environment. There are people nearby with which to interact. It is made for rest and relaxation. What stands out most is that they have a natural lagoon in the middle, which serves as pool, pier. It is an ideal place to spend the summer with family.
Nestled within the fabulous and monumental Estremoz, the inn Rainha Santa Isabel is housed in the splendid palace which, during the 13th Century the king D. Dinis comissioned to be constructed for his wife, Queen Elizabeth. Although it must have been remodeled and modernized, the palace continues to radiate spectacular beauty, accentuated by a refined and elegant period decor. The inn has 29 themed rooms in the style prevailing in the eighteenth century. A luxurious place situated in the delightful village of Estremoz.
got a lot out of my trip to Alentejo. However what surprised me most was the variety of possibilities in the housing. What I most recommend, without doubt, are the cottages. There are many and they are very well prepared. Made more special firstly, because of its location. It's just 20 minutes from the beautiful town of Serpa but also they're completely lost in the countryside. Among the olive trees and nature. The sunset is magical. The second, by its owner. Felix. A Swiss (high marketing executive) who had a dream: Setting up a different and unique cottage in Alentejo, an area that he loved. After ten years of struggle, Felix finally got it right and set up a place that is indescribable. The house is amazing, but the environment ... If you ever want to disconnect from absolutely everything, go there, meet Felix and his wife and enjoy a few days of maximum silence.
The first night I spent in Alentejo, I stayed in this country cottage located in the center of the town of Crato. It was the first of the typical villages of the area that I came to, so the first thing that struck me was the color of the walls, which were all painted in white and yellow. The village itself is not anything special, but it is fine for a leisurely stroll. The house, meanwhile, is great. It is a restored ancient palace, and therefore the rooms are quite spacious. The owner is fantastic, and the place is very cozy. Furthermore, they serve great homemade food. Opposite, there is a very interesting ship, almost a museum, which houses parts of old carriages.
It surprised me how many different types of accommodation offered to tourists in Alentejo, from special houses to large and luxurious hotels, like this one. The Hotel Acuedcuto of Évora is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in, for its good treatment and good taste. It is charmingly decorated and located right next the aqueduct, an ideal location, and it has everything a guest could need. A lovely pool for the summer, a bar that invites you to drink, huge rooms, etc. There is also a Nespresso machine in the aisles for guests to serve themselves free of charge.
The Alentejo is full of surprises. For example, you might suddenly be surrounded by vineyards. The delightful aroma Alvito has good wine, Arabic layout, whitewashed houses, a plaza where watching a clock tower and the churches of Mercy and the Lady of the Candles. But the absolute protagonist of Alvito is your 'Castelo' Mudejar national monument and now a Posada. Want to pamper yourself in the middle of Alentejo? Fantasizing that you are a great man and you live in the sixteenth century? Want to stroll through the gardens? Wander among peacocks? La Posada, which is a mixture of Gothic, Moorish and Manueline, a spectacular patio and almost baroque interior decor is just amazing ... Throw in Portuguese attention, Alentejo gastronomy and people, which is a charm. Oh, and if you fancy getting out of 'your castelo' go for a walk from Alvito along the wine route, which takes you to the beautiful country roads of Cuba and to the Vidigueira people, producing wines that have a Denomination of Origin.

In my travel around Portugal I found this cozy little hotel apartment to relax without the noise and bustle. The apartment had all the amenities, including free wifi, which I appreciate today. The only bad thing is that it had no pool but from here we could go easily to the nearby beaches: Malho, Faro, and of course Milfontes. For lunch and dinner we found several restaurants and bars where you can taste the fresh local fish.

Modern and very economical, but not an over-used hotel. The reception is within a store by the same name (Ale-hop). We had a problem with the hot water, but at check-out they gave us a substantial discount for the inconvenience, a nice touch. It was in the center of Évora, all new, and now you have the possibility of using the kitchen, plus, something very important nowadays, WiFi. Highly recommended.
