Esclanyá Castle

On the road that joins Begur with Palafrugell something that really catches the eye is the striking historic nucleus of Esclanyá, which is a territory that belonged to the Lord of Cruilles and that's now attached to the town of Begur. Esclanyá Castle is one of the buildings that defines the sky-line, along with the bell tower of St. Stephen's Church, which dates back to the 14th century. The construction maintains Roman ruins, is rectangular, and although its north and west facades are hidden between paired structures in its south and east facades you can see the arc right in the middle.
