Town Hall of Saliste

1 review of Town Hall of Saliste

Town Hall of Saliste

The town hall is a large white building in the center of town. It has seen many political events, cultural, government changes. Saliste was a Saxon village and is 21km from Sibiu. The council administers the villages around: Sibiel, Vale, Amnas... In total there is a population of nearly 6,000 people, most of them Romanians, but there are some Germans too who are now a minority. The town hall was built in Saxon-style, but it is more open to the outside, while the houses are arranged around a hidden courtyard. The municipality was created in 1774 officially, although there had been people living there since the Stone Age.
