Sabalos Hotel is a great base to explore the rivers and wildlife of the area. You can go fishing, sailing on the river and explore the nearby mountains. This area of Nicaragua, located in the south near the border with Costa Rica, is surprising as the entire landscape of the area is beautiful - the cottages of this hotel look like they are out of a film. You have to come and visit to see how beautiful it is. I recommend that you hire a guide to take you to the remotest and most beautiful places. The food is outstanding and very characteristic of the area, as is the cleanliness and friendliness of the people. You can swim in the clear waters of Rio San Juan. If you are looking for an adventure without boundaries, Nicaragua awaits you.
I was recently in San Carlos, Nicaragua for the umpteenth time, but this time I was invited to stay at the Posada de Doña Juanita, which is owned by Henry Sandino Flores and his wife, Merceditas Balladares. It has four well-equipped rooms with private baths, cable TV, Internet, and A/C. You can stay there for a good price, and an excellent breakfast included in the rate. According to its owner, Dona Juanita's Inn was given its name in honor of the owner's mother, who had an altruistic heart and was always giving peasants a place to stay.
