French Basque village

A typical Basque village, with most of its houses gathered near the church and one gable wall, this is absolutely essential in these small villages. The pediment has regular ball games. In Ascain, Pierre Loti wrote his famous book on the Basque Country "Ramuntcho". You can't miss his church (with typical wooden gallery inside, present in all the churches in this area) as well as the Roman bridge (built in the V century during the Roman occupation in Aquitaine). Situated at the foot of the legendary Mount Larrun, known for its rack railway, and in 30 minutes, you can go up 905 meters. In good weather, you get a spectacular view of the coast from the lighthouse of Biarritz.
