paradise for art history lovers
The Musée de l'Annonciade is in the Saint-Tropez port, in what was once a chapel. The Chapel of Our Lady of the Annunciation was built in 1568 and converted into a museum in 1937. The city paid tribute to the many artists of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries that came to the region to paint. In turn, this museum features modern and contemporary paintings from the nineteenth century. The permanent collection is truly exquisite: Braque, Matisse, Modigliani, Seurat, Vuillard, Signac just to name a few, and not to forget it's most famous painting, "The Port of Saint-Tropez." It's a paradise for art history lovers.
