Discovering a big city
This is one of the most important cities in England. With 470,000 inhabitants, it is large enough to have everything ... very interesting museums, 2 football teams in the premier league, a lively commercial area in the heart of the city, 2 universities, many pubs, great live music ... but also small enough to be very handy, convenient and relatively cheap to visit.
A major port city in the days of the British Empire, Liverpool fell into a gradual decline in the mid-twentieth century. However, it has found a new lease of life in the last twenty years, and was named European Capital of Culture in 2008. Currently the two most important industries here are the service sector and the port. It has a wonderful skyline, great pubs offering fantastic beer and, of course ... The Beatles. You can find traces of the Fab Four in every corner of the city, with music, pictures, guided tours, and of course The Cavern Club, an absolute must.
