2 reviews of Choragic Monument of Lysicrates

Ancient neighbourhood

Built before 333 at the time of Euvenelos. You are now in an animated street Monasteraki neighborhood, just below the Agora of Athens. There is a restaurant next door perfect for lovers, covered with greenery and lights petite, serving lunch and dinner. The old street of the Tripods connected the agora with the sanctuary and theater of Dionysos. The Tripods were some awards given to the sponsors of the city, for contributing to the development and the arts. In C5 century BC, they were rectangular in shape, and then took the form of a temple. In marble and sculptures you can see Dionysus' adventures with pirates, ve transformed into dolphins.
