Before Europeans arrived in the Americas, the people of the Pacific Northwest Coast of North America had already developed a stunning and sophisticated culture of wood carving, painting, and dance. At the Museum of Anthropology, set in a beautiful wooded spot on the University of British Columbia campus in Vancouver, B.C., you can see historic and contemporary examples of this complex culture.

Unique collection

The Museum of Anthropology is on the cliffs of Point Grey in western Vancouver. It has the world's largest collection of works by the world-famous Haida artist Bill Reid, including his most famous sculpture, "The Raven and the First Men" in cedar. It also has a collection of unique European ceramics, and work from ceramic artists from Vancouver.
