Bellona Sorvetes Artesanais
(3)
The Bellona Sorveteria is a great place to enjoy a delicious ice cream without risking your figure. It is located in the heart of the neighbourhood of Bonfim, and is the perfect place to go if you need to recharge your batteries after a hike, walk or run. It serves traditional ice cream flavours, as well as sorbets with 0% fat and no lactose. You can choose from flavours including passion fruit, blueberry, strawberry, cherry, mango, and other delicious tropical fruits. As well as standard ice creams and sorbets, the menu also includes soy ice creams. In my opinion, one of the best in Porto Alegre!
Cafés in Porto Alegre
Província do Café
One of the best cafes in the city, situated on the lively Andradas street, in the historic center of the city. It has a wide variety of cafes and a few snacks, their sandwiches are delicious. You should try the Belgian coffee (espresso, piece of chocolate, whipped cream and cinnamon) its a little strong, but very good! And the specialty of the house: the chocolate and nut tart.

Cavanhas

Cavanhas is one of the most classic tapas bars of Porto Alegre. The company was founded over 20 years ago, and the first of the seven bars opened nearby in the Av. Loureiro da Silva. Most people order the Boka Loka and Bauru 4 Queijos 373, but there are many other options besides these sandwiches, like delicious pizzas, snacks, and other dishes.

Nono Ludovico

Porto Alegre is a city with a variety of restaurants. Given the large number of Italians in the area, pizzerias and pasta restaurants are very popular in the area, and are really delicious. This is a great place to enjoy a pizza, founded in 2001, and located on Avenida Lavras, near the Plaza Encol. The name of the pizzeria is a tribute to the owner's grandfather (the owner is the son of Italian immigrants). The place is spacious and bright, and has recently been renovated. They serve pizzas and a variety of sweets, as well as calzones and pasta dishes; there's also a salad buffet. It is open everyday from 7pm. On weekends, get there early as the queue can be quite long. They have valet parking, and accept cash, cards and, food stamps.

Dometila Café
(1)
The Cafe Dometila is a lovely place for a meal, a "happy hour" or appointment. Guests are greeted with a shower of rose petals! Being situated in front of a square, it's a very calm place helped by the decor and music. The menu has sandwiches, hot drinks, and desserts with curious names. By the way, the coffee is called in homage to the love of D. Pedro I, the Marquesa de Santos, Domitila de Castro, and the names of the dishes and drinks are the names of relatives and friends of the couple. It is open Tuesday to Sunday, and has tables inside and outside

Baden Cafes Especiais is specialized in Arabic bean coffee. In addition to the many coffees like Lacrima, Doppio espreso, Bombom, and Clove and Cinnamon, the cafe also sells ground coffee. Also you can have coffee with alcohol, cold, or prepared in another manner. In addition to the specialty of the house, Baden offers a wide variety of drinks, hot and cold dishes, snacks, sandwiches and pastries, and has a shop. The cafe is open Monday to Friday, and is located in the friendly neighborhood of Santana, near the park Redeño. It has tables inside, and on the street.

Tudo Pelo Social
(2)
Tudo Pelo Social is one of the most crowded restaurants of the Cidade Baixa. Since 1988, it's served delicious dishes with generous portions at fair prices. The restaurant has 330 seats, and is easily filled at weekends - it's common to see huge queues on João Alfredo street. The atmosphere is simple, the tables are small and narrow, but when the famous giant Bife à Parmegiana comes out, nobody bothers about any of this! Meat with rice, chips, and salad, 4 people can eat well. Besides this, the menu has other meat dishes, and during the week, there's a buffet lunch. Open every day for lunch, and Monday through Saturday for dinner.

Consultório Culinário
This restaurant, like a home away from home, manages to combine the creations of Chef with an extremely creative and impeccable service. The daily menu is fixed, and is comprised of pates, breads and salads, main course and dessert, all for a super affordable price. The inspiring environment also houses photographic exhibitions and live music, and happy hour on certain days. Besides serving delicious food, it has inspired two sofas and beds in the community garden right in front of the sidewalk. Be sure to stop by the chapel of St. Anthony, a true work of art. Certainly one of the most significant places I visited in the city.

Chalé da Praça XV
(1)
This is undoubtedly one of the most traditional restaurants in town, with over 100 years in service, although not the speediest. It's in front of the Public Market in the city and very close to the Rio Guaiba and the food is super tasty. The place is great to go with friends and family, features live music as MPB, pop and rock, from Monday to Friday, from 16:30 to 22:30, and what trumps the house, is the menu number 3 that comes with filet mignon, breaded shrimp, codfish balls, and noisette potatoes.

Bife Hamburgueria
Bife Hamburgueria serves probably the best burger in Porto Alegre. The burgers are creative and combine original and surprising ingredients and you wouldn't think would go together but the results are divine. Plus, they're always updating the menu with new burgers. Fries or onion rings are the usual sides, and the drinks include organic sodas, imported beers, juices and smoothies. The service isn't the best in the world, but the burgers are pure gourmet.

Disco Bar
(1)
The Disco Bar is one of many lively places in the lower town, but they have something that others do not have: delicious pizzas and calzones in a Thematic rock n 'roll place. In the menu there are several types of pizza sized "compact" and "LP", sandwiches, salads and delicious "disco 'n' roll" (a kind of calzone), all named after musical groups. They have a variety of beers, wines, and spirits. And rock music of course! Open Tuesday to Saturday, and it is a great place for happy hour or a lively dinner.
Cafés in Porto Alegre
Croasonho
In recent years, the Croasonho network has expanded in Brazil, and this restaurant, in the historic center of Porto Alegre, attracts many people. The Croasonho serves, of course, delicious croasonhos (a type of croissant with different fillings and toppings such as broccoli with white sauce and mozzarella cheese, steak and five cheeses, dried tomatoes and rocket, chocolate and M&M's, Nutella and banana, biscuits) and also salads, pasta and meat dishes, sorbets, brownies, and hot and cold drinks, like caramel coffee.

Churrascaria Galpão Crioulo
Anyone who really likes meat has to try the food in the south of the country. Going to Porto Alegre and not eating a steak is almost impossible! The place is huge, but it is good to reserve and it's popular with tourists, so it is always full. They have a rotation system and also a great buffet with other foods. Besides a good barbecue, that's well served and quite spicy (using top quality meat), it also has a show that lasts about 1 hour. It has various dancers, and also a show with audience interaction. It is fun, I truly had a great time. They have a big stage, so it is not crammed into a corner, and the whole restaurant has good view of the stage.

Cafe Santo de Casa
(2)
On the upper floor and dome of the Mario Quintana Culture House is the Santo de Casa Cafe, open Tuesday to Sunday. It overlooks the Guaba and CCMQ, and has a very pleasant atmosphere for lunch, to have coffee in the afternoon, and happy hour, often with live music (charging a little more). The theme of the cafe is the saints, so all dishes and drinks have religious names, with the same style decor, it even has it's own "prayer." Snacks, dishes, sweets, and beer, with nice views, and depending on the hour, with the famous sunsets of the city.
