Riga has many restaurants and terraces, the weather in July is very good and everyone wants to be outside. Around noon the restaurants have menu offerings and we chose this one as it was near the hotel, we decided on sushi Planet, which is a chain and there are several around the city. We liked it a lot because the sashimi is very good, the rice especially and the fish was good. There are also options for rice on the wok that is a good price.
Since it's near the embassies, it's not unusual to see chic people enjoying the décor, live piano musis, and extensive wine list. It also has free wi-fi. I urge you to make reservations as it tends to fill to capacity, although it's not very cheap.
We went two times to this restaurant and bar area of Riga because we loved the large variety on the menu, the terrace was available with blankets when chilly and the interior has a green pond with lounge furniture and decorative frogs everywhere . Prices are cheap, the portions big and they have a variety to choose from such as entrees, salads, steaks and burgers, and of course Baltic fish, plus vegetarian options. There is a good wine (mostly French and Italian) and you can order a glass for about 2 euros.I recommend it for all kinds of travelers, groups, families, close friends and couples.
This is a chain that currently has 3 restaurants open in Riga. Purely western style, the waitresses where a sheriff star and recommend the tastiest meats you can try. In summer, the terrace overlooking the Viru Square is spectacular.
It's located on a quiet street, in the old area of Riga center. It's contemporary Latvian cuisine, as it states, the menu isn't too long, but it is good quality. The highlights are lamb, venison, some fish (that night was trout), all with good beer, and local wines that the waiter said were quite sweet. It has a fairly simple decor. In short: not crowded, good food, friendly, and reasonably priced.
Sounds of summer
Riga in the summer is amazing, especially close to mid summer. The old town is full of beautiful squares, which in turn are filled with one or more summer terraces. These are outdoor bars with a stage for musicians, wooden tables, chairs and benches and shady trees or umbrellas. For 2-3 euros you enjoy a small local beer and excellent musicianship. Just wander around until you discover your sound. No wonder everyone wants to stay up forever!
