We found this restaurant in a small street with many other restaurants in the center of Tavira Gilao near the river on the left. Rive Gauche is located at the end of the street, a little isolated from the main group of restaurants, it is quieter, but it is not worth choosing a restaurant based on the number of customers that are sitting, especially in tourist areas, we chose it for its style and its decoration, which looked a theater or a bohemian art gallery! Good decision! Rive Gauche was a super good surprise! The food is a fusion of Portuguese and French, simple and refined at the same time. For starter we selected a smoked cod salad with lemon sorbet and fresh rosemary, for the main course lamb (lamb Chambao, I think it is called in Portuguese), and a fresh strawberry pie for dessert, all homemade, all delicious , with plenty of Mediterranean flavors! Gorgeous, decorated dishes, incredible price-quality - it is almost gourmet! That if qwhy you have to wait a little for the dishes. Prices are 20 - 40 euros depending on the dishes. It has a terrace and a patio on the other side.
It's in an idyllic setting where you only hear the birds chirping and a slight breeze cools you in the shade of olive trees. Near the castle walls you can enjoy a fresh meal that is both generous and cheap. The service is a little slow but there is nothing better than enjoying the silence in good company, and the good food is definitely worth it. It has an outdoor terrace that spans a cobblestone plaza. It also has an inner terrace where you can also enjoy views of Tavira.
About 3km from Tavira, in the hamlet of Santa Margarida, you can enjoy the best grilled fish for a small fee. On entering and being seated you're served a salad and asked if you're having meat or fish. If you choose fish, you'll have trays of them until you can stand no more. Golden bass, salmonettes, sardines, bream, all freshly caught. This may vary depending on the day. The final tally with 4 beers 2 coffees and a cake was 28e.

It was pouring down, so we went to eat at this restaurant, the first we found, and it was not bad! It's steps from the Republic Square (the center of Tavira). It has modern and contemporary decor. The menu is quite international, offering both Portuguese dishes (cataplanas, cod, octopus ...), burgers and other dishes. We ordered a seafood cataplana for two (€28), and it was very good!
In the village of Cabanas de Tavira A Sabores da Ria is a very pleasant place, where you can eat good fish and seafood, and enjoy beautiful views over the Ria Formosa. If you want to catch the boat that crosses the Ria, you can relax on a beautiful beach.
Churrasqueira O Manel isn't expensive, but like almost all the tourist places in Tavira, it takes over an hour to serve anything that requires using the oven. It's happened twice now, so it's not my imagination. The bacalhao a bras is okay and the specialty "piri piri chicken" was good. With drinks and starters, our bill came out to €26.00.
