Pastéis de Belém
(123)
Well, I think this is where you will find the best and the most authentic Pastéis of Belém. These are small, sweet pastries filled with cream which is said to have been inherited from the ancient monastery of Geronimo monks of the order of Geronimos and is located right next to the bakery. The recipe is a secret, though, and it is said that only the great chefs here know how to make them. The bakeries are always crowded but are very fast and efficient when they care of you. First go through box and say how many pastries you want. Then you get a ticket andt then you give your ticket to one of the staff of the bar and you get your pastries. They put them in a box with two packets, one with cinnamon and the other with glazed sugar to put on top of the pastries. If you pass by Lisbon don´t forget to go to this place.

Cervejaria Trindade

According to records, this is the oldest brewery in operation in Portugal. Located in the ¨Barrio Alto¨, it is located at the site of the former Convent of the Holy Trinity. It was founded in 1294 and after its destruction after the great earthquake, it was rebuilt as a brewery. The dining room is decorated with beautiful tiles. There you can also enjoy traditional Portuguese dishes at a reasonable price, which is great for a visiting tourist ve doesn´t want to spend too much money.

Cafe A Brasileira

This is an institution in Lisbon, before largely frequented by writers and intellectuals, and is now a meeting place for people from all walks of life where you can have a drink and enjoy a lot of recipes, such as a magnificent cod dish. The venue, filled with classic décor, has a nice terrace in one of the most beautiful streets in the city. It´s highly recommended to visit.
Cafés in Sintra
Cafe A Piriquita

The truth is that this cafe is one of the most charming places I visited on my trip to the Portuguese coast. It is hard to decide which is more delicious, the queijadas that are typically sweet and travesseiros or the service of the lady ve runs the place. If you visit Sintra do not fail to give a tribute in the form of tea.

Casa do Alentejo

It's like a kind of regional home. The are where the building is located is from the last century and has a strong Arab influence. It is a place with arches, courtyards and fountains, and has a grand staircase leading up to the top floor. During the day the cultural center has many events and there is a restaurant where many weddings take place. It's worthwhile to enter to see the architecture and decor in the building.

Chapito

One of the most magical places in Lisbon. It's an association that has a school of arts and entertainment for underprivileged children. That alone is pretty interesting, but the association also has a hotel complex that is simply stunning. Inside you can see a circus show, a concert or a play while enjoying a beer, cocktail or just while having dinner or a snack. This resort has a large central courtyard where you can enjoy one of the best and most pleasant views of this magical city. You MUST visit this place.

Definitely the best restaurant in Lisbon. We booked a reservation on the 14th of February and they gave us a table. The truth is that the service was exquisite and the food as well, such a delicacy. I had the best scallops I´ve ever had!. I will return without doubt.

Esplanada Furnas Restaurant

It never failed, whenever we ate in Ericeira we went to Furnas. Or maybe it was the opposite and we always went to Ericeira to eat there. I´m not sure, but you can eat here one of the best fresh local fish, at a fairly nice price and if you're lucky, on the beautiful terrace overlooking the sea.

Confeitaria Nacional

If you are fans of the sweet and good environments and coincidentally if you're visiting the Portuguese capital, I recommend going to the Pastelería Nacional. With classic décor maintained since 1829, its two whole screed floors offer everything you can imagine with a great atmosphere in which to spend the afternoon in a typical city with a pastry, especially the cream cakes (which I strongly recommend). Definitely a place to visit and to photograph!

It was a long journey from Madrid to rest at the Ibis Setubal. We wanted to find something to eat, and we were quite clear that we wanted fish, and fresh! That was the challenge. So I opened Minube and we crossed our fingers that I would be able to solve the problem. There he was, with four or five super-positive comments of other consumers ve have eaten there before. Really great. Fresh fish and seafood, good portions served at a fair price. Before you even order anything they bring you some bowls of shrimp, octopus with vinaigrette and eggs with vinaigrette. The house wine was very good. The super friendly waiter explained each dish to us and challenged our culinary knowledge. We ate and drank for just under € 20 per head. We had food left over. For starters we had grilled sardines: 10 spectacular sardines for just € 9.5, then for the second course: Setubalense Caldeirada at € 28: it's like a zarzuela, really delicious seafood. And finally also for two: Rice Garoupa death was also € 28. It was a pity that they had ran out of chocolate mousse. Today I will go back and try the muscle, but I also want to try the fried choco Setubalense. You must go, you will not regret it.

Caseiro

We discovered this restaurant by accident. We wanted a place to eat with our nieces after visiting the "Mosteiro dos Jeronimos", before we went through the door, we looked in the window and liked it. We went and had no regrets, and have been back many times. Of course, it is always full and you should make a reservation even only half an hour before. It serves typical Portuguese food, homemade, simple and well cooked. I would recommend the fish, very fresh, with cod in the first place. A bottle of chilled "vinho verde" (the Muralhas is very good) to accompany the food, a homemade dessert and coffee for those ve only know how to be like the Portuguese and bon appétit! They are nice, attentive and are always in a good mood, which is appreciated. The menu has prices to fit any budget depending on the dish you want- no-one can say it's an expensive place. The portions are huge, so the starters are almost too much. Actually not a bad idea to tell the waiter that you don't want them even before sitting down to eat: a plate of ham and one of cheese cost € 11.00. It's not nonsense. If you can make room for more food, Caseiro is practically in front of the famous "Casa dos Pastéis de Belém". It's open from 12:00 to 15:00 and 19:00 to 22:00 and it's closed Sundays and August.

The restaurant is great, we found it on Minube and ate there every day. The quality is exceptional and the prices are cheap. We were treated like kings the minute we walked in. They speak Spanish and English, and have menus in German and other languages. The fried choquiños al Antoniu's are a gastronomic delight, for example. They serve fresh fish and meat too, which in this area is not very common. The truth is that I thank Minube for finding it. Every night the waiter regaled us with a shot of liquor or with an unexpected dessert. Treatment, service and meal - all a 10.

It's a large place, with an endless number of tables, so it's not recommended if you're looking for peace and quiet. However, if you want to eat well in a nice place for cheap, this is the place. The grill is open so you can watch the chefs cooking the sardines or the meat. The service was excellent and fast. Approximate prices: 8 euros for a dozen sardines, the Grelhao cod (grilled) for 10 euros, both accompanied by boiled potatoes. In total, with dessert, about 30 euros for two. Definitely recommended.

Clube de Fado

Well, we found it very expensive. It's a place especially meant for foreigners and tourists. It costed more than 45 € per person and we only ordered two small salads to share and a main meal without dessert or wine. A plate of ham at least 18 €. That if everything was very good and they had a great ¨fado¨. Good luck

This restaurant is where I had one of the many good times that I have in memory of my trip to Portugal. It is in the Plaza of the lower area of the village, next to the beach. My experience was very good, we ate a seafood stew which was good and cheap. If you visit Nazareth you have to stop here.

We decided on this restaurant because it was recommended by a local and nobody knows the best spots in the city like they do. First we shared some clams cooked with parsely and garlic. It was the the perfect appetizer and a real treat. For the latter we all decided on cod but cooked different ways, cod brass (flaked fish with potatoes and eggs), grilled cod (grilled and served with potatoes) and cod with cream (comes crumbled with melted cream). The dinner was accompanied by a bottle of Muralhas, one of the best green wines I've tried. The location was very central too, right near the Monastery of Jeronimos. Very attentive waitstaff and quality prices to match. I will definitely return!

It is a seafood restaurant, but there I ate the best seafood. The staff is nice, and the prices to eat there were good, because you could never dream in Spain of eating what we had there for 30 euros per person, for example a kilo of barnacles was in April 2008 45 euros.

This is a really welcoming surf bar, in one of the most touristic areas that is popular with Portuguese surfers as well. Decorated with dozens of surfboards, it has quality food at very reasonable prices. Three of us were able to have breakfast for 5 euros. Also very suitable for drinks or snacks during the day. Wall to wall is 58 surf shop with rental equipment and everything needed for the world of surfing.
