This restaurant, in the center of Zafra, offers typical regional specialties such as local beef tenderloin, oxtail and various local vegetables. The cuisine is excellent, with good presentation and tasty dishes. The croquettes are also really spectacular. As for prices, starters begin at € 11 and main courses from € 14 to € 20. There is an extensive wine list. Besides the food, the restaurant is very cozy, with just a few tables and friendly service.
We ate very well at Meson la Fea. It's closed on Wednesdays. We drank a bottle of wine, ate a half serving of wonderful cheese, a salad, soup, and a grilled steak for two people and a coffee for 30 euros. For the locals, it's the place to go to dinner, which was a good guarantee for us. We finished dinner very happy.
On the way to Algeciras we stopped at Zafra, near Merida. We had good grilled iberican pork and good fish on the shady terrace of Restaurante Las Palmeras, located in the Plaza Grande de Zafra, overlooked by palm trees.
As I was strolling through the so-called “Little Seville,” I found this small tavern which is a perfect place to try bite-size morsels of Extremeño cuisine like codfish brandade, game in aged mustard sauce, yellow-tomato salmorejo with pistachios, or sugar beets with tuna belly. This food is, of course, paired with regional wines bearing the D.O. Ribera del Guadiana; we had the Viña Puebla Selección. Make sure to check out the exhibits that decorate the tavern on the ground and first floors, and to have a refreshing drink on the terrace in the afternoon.

A couple of Sundays ago, my husband, myself and some friends were visiting Zafra. We happened upon a lovely square (the Plaza Chica), full of terraces, but without really knowing what we were looking for. It was February and we sat at the first table we saw free for a beer. Even though we had only ordered drinks, they brought an appetizer (potatoes cooked with marinated tuna) which gave us a clue that this could be a good place to eat so we read the menu which convinced us! We ordered artichokes with almond sauce (delicious), chicken salad and red cabbage, Extremadura stew, chickpeas, meat and broth and a skillet of chorizo with eggs. For dessert, we had Serena cake topped with local cream cheese. We stayed until the sun set and we left. It was the perfect finish to our weekend.
In the Plaza Chica de Zafra, this small tavern with touches of Seville, will delight. For € 5 you can get a bucket full of bottles of Mahou. It's a nice place for a quick dinner or snack. The potato omelette is great!
One of the best places to eat in Zafra, undoubtedly. If you want to eat well, this is the place. This restaurant is located almost in the center of Zafra, on Calle Lopez Asme, near the city hall. You can book on the website.
Since we discovered this bar, we've come here almost every day to have a few pitchers of beer with its corresponding tapas of bacon, tentacles, squid, etc., all for the tune of € 5! They have a spacious terrace at Don Cesareo.
Crespo Bar Restaurant is in the traditional town of Zafra. This wonderful place has a modern atmosphere that you'll enjoy either with friends or family. The dishes here are varied and to satisfy the tastes of their clients. Prices are doable for anyone. It's a little place with a great view of the golf course.
The El Dropo Restaurant is a restored house with 3 floors that has unique views of harvest and the international cuisine that they offer is very avant-garde, at affordable prices. Strongly recommended.
