One of the things I like about California is the food. Everyone says that American food is bad and I strongly disagree with that. In California, Americans can barely eat by choice but the food is usually delicious, especially for vegetarians. There are many options and good prices. In Los Angeles, there is a network that prepares delicious sandwiches in exquisite French style, the Champagne Bakery. The shops are simple but charming with decorated details that refer to European households and impeccable service. The snack bar is actually a bakery and they produce various kinds of breads that you can even take home. There is also a showcase of handmade sweets that will surely leave you salivating and indecisive. The candy is beautiful, clean, and in many shapes and colors.
Mel's Drive In is located Hollywood Boulevard and serves good burgers, shakes and salads at reasonable prices. The restaurant itself is modeled after a 50's diner and has jukeboxes at all the tables. Moviegoers will recognize it from the film "American Graffiti". It's nothing gourmet, but it's pretty good as far as diners go.
