It has beautiful lakes and the village is picturesque. It's all decorated with wooden casasde, including the shops. the place is full of gardens from which to choose your favourite site! There is also an ancient forest called myrtle to go hiking or biking! This is at the neuquen in Argentina Andes!
Follow the Seven Lakes Road, cross the dense and enormous forest bordering Lake Correntoso, then cross the river of the same name that continues along the Lagos Villarino, Falkner, Hermoso and Meliquimia to reach the town of San Martin de los Andes. It is located on the shores of the beautiful Lacar Lake. San Martin de los Andes is a town of roughly 40,000 inhabitants, and is about 40 km from the border with Chile. The landscape is similar to a pocket in that it is protected from the wind, yet here it is quite different from other places. It is very warm, with wooden buildings, some of which look very rustic.
The hotels in the area are varied and there are excellent restaurants and grills where you can eat the famous Patagonian lamb. It is a beautiful lakeside town located on the shores of Lacar Lake and you can go fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, climbing, rafting, take part in agrotourism, among many other things. The town was founded in February 4, 1898. The Plaza San Martín is the historic core of the city and it is from there that the streets spread out from. There is a monument to General San Martin in the center and a lot of trees to all sides, including centenarians araucarias that still stand and other ornamental species. There are many civic and cultural events carried out here like the Trabun, a Mapuche event that takes place every year. This event takes place during the month of December bringing together musicians from Argentina and Chile. Throughout the year there are several craft fairs and local retailers that bring in fine fruits, sweets, dried flowers and other goods from local producers. You can reach this area by plain, accessed through Chapelco Airport, which is about 22 km from the urban center. Surrounding the square and the surrounding area are the main public buildings, many with great historical and architectural value. The address and phone are the same as the Municipality of San Martin de los Andes.
The Myrtle Forest is a unique place in the world, as the other one that existed in Japan was burned years ago. It is situated on the peninsula of Quetrihúa, whose coastal waters of Lake Nahuel Huapi, Neuquen province occupy a total area of 20 hectares. The myrtle is a subtle and charming tree, which belongs to the Andean-Patagonian area and is characterized by its bark which is "painted" with white spots, similar to the skin of the fawns. It grows slowly and reaches a height of 15 meters. Walt Disney filmed the famous movie BAMBI here. It is a truly a magical place. It is definitely worth the visit.
Mari Menuco Mari Lake is an extraordinarily beautiful place that isn't very popular in Argentina, but it's very visited by the inhabitants of the cities of Neuquen and Cippoletti. The lake's calm blue waters contrast the red of the surrounding mountains so that it creates its own unique landscape of the lakes and the Andes. Its waters come from the Neuquen River, and there's a spa that you have to pay to enter and it's quite expensive. Anyway, the place offers a lot of water activities and an area conducive to having a good time with family or friends. To the lake should take Route n ° 7-80 kilometers from the city of Neuquén.
Traful Lake is one of my favorite places in the world, at least of the ones I have explored. I have never felt peace manifest itself on earth as well as it does in this place. I recommend it to anyone visitng the the province Neuquén, Argentina. It's the ideal place for anyone who wants to connect with nature and with themselves. The most starry nights and the most beautiful sunrises!
After having traveled 30 km from the entrance of Lanin National Park bordering Lake Huechelafquen, which is stunning and looks like a sea surrounded by mountains, you arrive at Puerto Canoa. From there, we took the catamaran the "two lakes, two volcanoes". It is an impressive ride and the price is decent in comparison with other tours of the South (we almost didn´t do any tours because we had a car and did it on our own but found out the price is quite expensive. But we could not visit this lake on our own). The tour lasts about 90 minutes in which they serve you something to drink and something sweet. Among other things you can see the narrow area where it joins the Huechelafquen with Epulafquen, a river of solidified lava, offering very good views of the volcano Lanin and Niyeu Achén with gulls following the boat and lush green vegetation . After the tour you can visit Puerto Canoa, which is a free interpretive trail called "The Forest" . It lasts for half an hour and you can see the local flora and evolution.
The second day we spent at Villa Pehuenia we went to see the Batea Mahuida volcano. During the first part of the drive we made the ascent to the summit and the antennas hostel (the view was so beautiful it's hard to describe, you can see the Lanin and Chilean volcanoes alongside the Villarica). From the volcano's crater you'll have an amazing panoramic view. Finally, we went down not by the traditional side but by the crater lake. Note that the land where the volcano belongs to the Mapuche Puel and these are responsible for the confectionery's below.
The seven lakes route in Argentina is the road that goes between the towns of San Martin de los Andes and Villa La Angostura, which happen to be two of the most beautiful towns in Argentina. It's a winding road between lakes and mountains passable most of the year, with some complications heavy snowfall in the winter. Currently we are expanding the pavement. It's one of the must-see places in Patagonia.
After breakfast at the Hotel Caupolican, we went from there to take the tour of the Lake. The characteristic thing of lakes as Lacar, dead lake in the Mapuche language, is its glacial origin but is the only 1 of the lakes in this basin through the river and Lake Hua Hum Nonthué, which empties into the Pacific. It was not the first time I visited and hopefully it won´t be the last time because it is one of areas of the country that I´d like to return to. We left the marina where the position of the Naval Prefecture Argentina. The pier is covered with mountains with thick forest greenery, contrasting with the amazing blue hue of the lake. Although this particular ride we have not visited its beaches, which are very lovely and popular in summer time, in April it's cold and we got to our destination which was Puerto Canoa and the tour of the different areas of the Park Lanin National. We visited Villa Quila Quina, Hua Hum Recreation Area and Playa Piedra Mala among other activities. The lake water is clear, calm, mirror, perfect for water sports, diving, finding shipwrecks, etc., The environment varies with the time of year, we were in the fall and shades ranging from deep green to ocher and yellow. If you go in winter, as I did in the year 2009 and took the tour from Bariloche by the Road of the Seven Lakes to San Martin de los Andes, you can see the environment absolutely white. The place is Lake on Av Costanera, other data from the Ministry of Tourism located on Avenida San Martin and Juan Manuel de Rosas. It's a place that many young Argentines know but don't value, because they don't go to enjoy the beauty and charm that the place has, both in winter and summer. It has a particular charm both the nature that surrounds the city and the center of the city. Nature in the region is exquisite and beautiful. A place not impossible for anyone to know that loves nature. A combination of different colors that can be found devido from Snow White to the turquoise waters, which are made to believe that any tourist is the perfect mirror the sky and never see a color more beautiful in the world. It has all kinds of greens, because it has an interesting vegetation and severa kinds of animals in the area that generates admiration. Definitely too many reasons to visit this place ... And once you have come, you definitely consider staying for the rest of your life as it's an earthly paradise. I couldn't stay, but I want to return as soon as the opportunity presents itself. Visit Bariloche, in any season, and you won't regret it.
When we dis this walk that took us to Lake Huechulafquen we headed to Junín de los Andes, a city which this river passes through, just a few miles away we found the Chimehuin River Bridge. Its clear waters allow you to glimpse its rocky bottom almost seven meters deep and to glimpse some precious fish. It really is a delight to walk that road along the river with a wide variety of forest vegetation with incredible autumnal shades of yellows, browns, greens, reds and browns that make shiny frame the water course. This river is not only to delight the fishing enthusiasts but for those who can enjoy the beaches, or camping in areas suitable for it, placing their stores on a very green lawn between this thick and lush vegetation which contrasts with the blue sky, the eternally snow-capped Lanin Volcano.
I've been twice to this small town and I've come to the conclusion that on these trips I've found my second place in the world, the first place is my town where I grew up and live. But I'm longing to return, and I'm dreaming about one day building myself a second home, where I could grow old and go fly fishing. I've never flyfished, but I fished in small lakes, but I want to travel to fly fish, although this is a useless technique. The place is impossible to describe. It gives me a special strength, although it's not listed as the most beautiful place or the most touristic area, for me Junin de los Andes is special. The river Chimehuin borders this beautiful city which is on a small island. There are 2 camp sites although I recommend only 1, Laura Vicuña Camping. It is the best site I have ever visited, very safe, very affordable and also has wooden cabins to rent at very low prices. If you pass by, visitthe city, the Via Crucis on a hill, with Mapuches style sculptures, however I can't remember the name. I hope my words help some hesitant visitors to visit Junin de los Andes.
Victoria Island is 31 square kilometres and is located within the Nahuel Huapi Lake in the Department of the Lakes, Neuquen province, Patagonia, Argentina. It is covered in lush vegetation, of many different colours. You can arrive here by catamaran from Puerto Pañuelo or on an old boat called Modesta Victoria which is the replica of the first ship that was in the area to get here. You can go for a wonderful walk, sailing in the blue waters of Lake Nahuel Huapi, you can look at the different greens of the coast, while hundreds of seagulls follow you .... Be sure to bring a picnic basket, then find beaches to laze in the sun or the prettiest trails and places to rest while admiring the scenery and relaxing.
Located in a valley in the heart of the mountain, in a volcanic area, The Copahue Thermal Place is a health resort with very big pools filled with thermal water at different temperatures, which also differ in their mineral contents, and with different types of mud. It is a resort that has all kinds of healing techniques. There is extensive information online. In Caviahue Copahue, Neuquen, Argentina, you'll come across a valley surrounded by mountains with snow on the slopes, and at the foot of the valley, the steaming pools. This landscape is spectacular!
We were returning from our stay in the south, and suddenly we started to see signs saying dinosaurs in two kilometers, these appeal to us and so we entered the town of The Chocón, about 80 km from the city of Neuquén. Here dinosaur footprints painted on the streets lead you to the museum that specialises in paleontology. The museum was created with the intention of showing all the fossil material that has been found in the area, which is substantial. The most important fossil that saw there was the "Giganotosaurus Carolini" which was discovered in The Choqcón in 1993. This huge dinosaur is the largest carnivore known up to now in the world, it measures : total length 14 meters. Height to hip 4.60 meters. It weighs between 9,500 and 10,000 kg.
After crossing the bridge over the River Chimehuín the Huechulafquen Lake appears. In the Mapuche language Mapudungun means "lake of the art". The amazing deep blue-green that we saw from far became even more splendid as we got to the beach and saw it reflecting in the sun. From there, we began our walk in Lanin National Park. At the park there is a Visitors Center that helps to guide the tourists. The park features everything that makes natural spaces wonderful, the incredible color of its diverse vegetation cut on the slopes of the volcano Lanin hue contrasting with the intense water, wildlife, trails interpretation forests high in the you hear the chirping of the birds that can't be seen, its camping areas, etc.. In the port of Puerto Canoa can take the boats making the journey through the different glacial lakes and was this lake that accompanied us throughout our tour of the park. We had done a few miles when we found Chimehuin River mouth, which I mentioned in another corner, a river that runs through the town of Junin de Los Andes carrying the waters of this lake to pour into the Atlantic Ocean.
Caviahue-Copahue is a place that has a little bit of everything. In the winter you can go skiing, snowshoeing, horseback riding, and climbing. In the summer there are waterfalls, hiking, and you can even hike to the crater of the volcano Copahue, a place with a sulfur lake! There are holes there that make natural saunas! There's much more to see, but I'm sure I'm forgetting everything.
Route 22 travels from Zapala to Villa Pehuenia, and from here you can enjoy the landscape of the Patagonian region in Argentina, in the late afternoon the clouds form an effect in the distance, like the trees are drawing water with their branches.
