The French Pyrenees have very good skiing with many miles of tracks and the advantage that it is far from Spain and that there are certain times of year in which the ski season coincides with holidays in Spain. I always take the 'week of kings' to go there because it is off season and we ski for less than we would in Spanish stations. La Mongie is a station that has 3 valleys and therefore many tracks, in addition to skiing we enjoyed unique views. The tracks are not very complicated but they suit all tastes. Yes, almost all are very wide and the snow is usually fine except in areas where the sun shines more it may be bald. There are still some drag lifts but most are chair lifts, an aspect to consider for beginners. As for the services here, I must say that there is everything. In all the valleys there are restaurants and bars that also offer daily specials at affordable prices and the village of La Mongie has many ski shops, shops selling typical local products, bars, restaurants and even a tourist office. Furthermore, in the resort of La Mongie you can also purchase a special pass that serves the other four stations. I recommended this station, especially for those with young children because they give discounts to families. By the way! If you are a smoker, I recommend that you purchase snuff before you go, because in addition to being expensive, this year is very difficult to find due to French rules which banned smoking in public places.
