The Lake of Gaube is in the center of the Pyrenees mountain range, in France's Hautes-Pyrénées department. It's located at 1,800 meters above sea level in the Cauterets valley in the Pyrenees National Park. Beside the lake, which is of glacial origin, there's a small hotel-restaurant where you can see views of the lake with the Vignemale peak in the background. It's a beautiful place to enjoy the fresh air and you can see marmots, eagles, and other native fauna.
Petit Vignemale Ascent (3032 m) departing from Gavarnie (French Pyrenees). As you pass through the Barrage D'Ossoue the first rays of sun begin to emerge, which illuminate the ridges of the mountains (07.40 h.). This view, together with the low clouds and the marshes creates a harmonious landscape. This is the ideal time to contemplate natural beauty and, moreover, to photograph it.
The national park of the Pyrenees. The village is very nice with its balconies and buildings. It's a very good place for excursions, walking in the park's three valleys: pont d'Espagne: Wallon and Gaube, Lutour: the fruitière
Good place for skiing and mountain biking.
