The house' facades in the small town of Airvault still look medieval in appearance: nobody has told them that we are now in the 21st century. Thouet River washes its shores, while St.-Pierre river crosses its subsoil. And between the narrow streets Airvault Castle greets us with a straight face. Even after 10 centuries it seems to have remained impregnable. Where the poplars grow along the river's banks one spies a curious and charming church through their branches . A typical building that meets the seal of the region of Poitou-Charentes: full of gothic vaults and arches. The Airvault abbey museum has large collections of popular art and traditions. Near this village is the "Station Verte de Vacances", which offers lots and lots of activities to do as a family.
