The North Market, found in the Short North District in Columbus, Ohio, is the perfect location to sample local foods and craft beers. During each of my several visits to Columbus I ate at the North Market and was spoiled for choice. In addition to delicious restaurants and bakeries there are grocers selling local produce and meats, fresh flowers, specialty cookware, gifts, and unique spices and spice blends. I’m particularly fond of the shop, North Market Spices, and their delicious chipotle apple pie spice blend. Brezel, another shop in the North Market, sells freshly backed pretzels with unique flavors such as peach, pumpkin, or rosemary.
Le Chocolique, found in two locations in Columbus, Ohio, serves the best hand-crafted chocolates and truffles I have ever eaten. Pop into the shop in the Short North to taste some chocolates paired with cocktails or coffee and be sure to bring an extra box or two of chocolates home. In addition to traditional flavors like hazelnut, ganache, or peanut butter, expect unique flavors and ingredients like lavender, bacon, hot pepper, or buckwheat honey. With the hundreds of beautifully hand-painted artisan chocolates on display you can find yourself standing in awe of their gem-like beauty. This is a must visit for any trip to Columbus.
