A fantastic hotel, right next to the sea. It has over 30 luxury rooms, a pool, and restaurant. The entrance to the pool is 50 euros, but there are several places nearby where you can bathe in clear water. The restaurant food is great - the cod is exquisite. A quiet place at the old lighthouse (hence the name).
This hotel is situated on a cliff on the Atlantic coast, close to Guincho Beach in Cascais (www.muchaxo.com). We visited it during our motorbike trip to Bético Atlantic in 2011. You can sleep there and have dinner in the restaurant or in Faroleiro which is located very close by. Although the hotel facilities are more than 30 years old, many great figures of Spanish and Portuguese social life today have stayed there. In our opinion, the facilities and staff deserve a thorough renewal given their high deterioration and lack of involvement (it would fall 3 stars). The only compensation is that the traveler is able to sleep on a waterfront site with a pool, and enjoy the sunsets and views of the beach do Guincho and Sintra Mountains.

A few years ago I visited it because the price and quality seemed to be fair, but I wouldn´t recommend it now, because it was disappointing, unless it has been refurbished since then. It is a 4 star hotel, constructed in the 70s and must have been one of the best in the city, but unfortunately time has left its mark: dirty and faded carpeting, furniture of Castilian style, completely outdated and impractical , too dark and it seems that they are always full of dust, the chest of drawers that I was afraid to open. The bathroom was clean, made with marble, but from the time of Maricastaña. The AC worked only one day of the 10 and from there. The pool was nice but it was not enough when the hotel is full. As for water, there was a shortage, but it was pretty murky, in fact I only went inside one day. As for the service, very friendly, but not very effective in the issue of cleanliness, were limited to: Bathroom Cleaning, change of towels and sheets. And worst elevator theme, I'm afraid that since its inauguration in 1966, is it the same, from a pathetic horror movie ....
In this hotel I learned to dive head firsr in the water! Ha ha ha!. I went many years ago with my parents and I remember that I enjoyed it a lot ... It has amazing sea views. A very quiet place in which to enjoy a pleasant stay.

Hotels in Cascais are one of the preferred options for accommodations in this city. Tourists often find Cascais hotels to stay in near the center, and by doing do they avoid long commutes to this city's best attractions. The downside is that prices in the center are always higher. If you want cheaper places to stay in Cascais, but don't want to give up the quality of a hotel, you have go a little further away from the center and use public transport. For those who decide that the center is where they want to stay, you should take into account the noise in the area and that it's very important that the rooms don't face the street or are close to night spots.
If you're driving, make sure you call ahead to reserve a parking space because finding parking in the center can be difficult. Lodging in Cascais includes more than just hotels. Other types of Cascais accommodations include hostels, apartments, and homes for rent. Those looking for cheap Cascais lodging should know that it's easy to find places to sleep for less than 40€ a night, plus the service and the rooms are generally good.
