2 reviews of Dryburgh Abbey

Near the village of Melrose

Excellent

Near the village of Melrose, in the village of Dryburgh, Scottish Borders, we found a curious medieval abbey route, the most prominent being Dryburgh Abbey, by size, by environment and by the most important issues in Scottish literature and history (at any time): There is the final resting place of the great writer Sir Walter Scott, Scottish defender of the nation and author of such important works as Ivanhoe, The Marmion and Minstrelsy of the Scottish Borders. Getting to the romantic ruins of the abbey isn't easy, leave the Wallace Monument and find a narrow road that leads to the same, but it's worth it, in the natural setting, close to the River Tweed and full history in every corner we passed.
