Town Hall and Historic Buildings

All historically significant buildings dating from the 16th and 18th Century are in a small section of the main street, originally isolated from the village itself and developed on the base of the hill (where you can find the palace), that overlooks the lake. The town hall is a small building that dominates the entrance to the palace and which now has multiple functions, among them being Linlithgow tourist information office. It is convenient to have this facility so close. Just in front of municipal buildings you can find the 'council', which in Spain would be what is known as the 'diputaciones provinciales' (country council in English). Next to this is the Sheriff Court, an institution that has kept legal authority of the towns and cities of Scotland.
