Military engineer history

The Battalion is a the only Pennsylvania unit authorized to carry the lineage of a unit of the Continental Army. When Benjamin Franklin published its call for the citizens of Philadelphia to adhere to the common defense in 1747, he looked to carpenters and skilled craftsmen to build the shipyards of the city they were and to form an artillery battery. The members of the 103rd Battalion, are among the oldest and most decorated military organizations in the community.
