Chavón River

After enjoying the wonderful Western Beach (in Catalina Island) and driven in the catamaran the banks of the magnificent Country House and its luxurious Marina , we reach a point where we were waiting for the "River Princess", a beautiful boat a replica of steam plied the Mississippi in the nineteenth century, with its impressive blade wheels and majestic fireplaces. Embark on it to make a river cruise on the Chavon River until the "dam" of the river, where a bridge through which runs the road (there disembarked to catch the bus that would take us to visit Altos de Chavon).

The Chavón River is a pretty strong river that rises in the interior flows into the Caribbean Sea just outside the city of La Romana. Actually it's about 10 minutes east of it, in the area called "the dam." The river's channel is surrounded by a spectacular canyon that's covered by the most lush tropical vegetation you've ever seen in your life! It's gorgeous for sure. In recent years it has become a tourist attraction, as this last stretch is navigable and can be performed river cruise aboard a boat similar to those that once plied the Mississippi.
