Clock of the Saint andré Cathedral

1 review of Clock of the Saint andré Cathedral

A magnificent cathedral

The magnificent Wells Cathedral has several pieces worth seeing, among them the second oldest clock in the world. Built in 1382, the clock has a peculiar 24-hour dial, and rings every quarter of an hour. What makes it unique is the fact that its design represents the immobile earth at the center of the solar system, as Aristotle and Ptolemy believed. Be sure to check it out, and try to visit it when it's going to ring, so you can see the little model knights striking the quarter!
