45 reviews of London Chinatown

For Chinese New Year the decorations are incredible

It's very particular, and the strangest thing is that it's in the center of London. It's near Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly that are traditionally very English, and then suddenly you find yourself in these 4-5 streets that take you to Asia. Everything is written with words you don't understand, the street is lively, people scream and run, it's another rhythm, another world. You can eat at one of the many Asian restaurants that are in general very cheap and most offer all you can eat for a fixed price. Early Chinese immigrants clustered in this neighborhood, doing business with sailors, and it was one of the most dangerous parts of the city.

Great environment, restaurants & decorations

London's Chinatown is not as large as those of other major cities in the world, but it has a great environment, restaurants or decorations in the streets. It's located in the heart of the British capital, in Soho, near Trafalgar Square or Piccadilly Circus, north of Leicester Square, on Lisle & Gerrard street.

A very creative place

One thing that I love about London is that it is a very creative city, where different cultures and styles mix all the time. It is both a very modern and ancient city, with men wearing bowler hats, as in the early twentieth century, rubbing shoulders with guys with fluorescent mohawks. The city is a real melting pot, as well as being a city with a mysterious and legendary history (Jack the Ripper etc). London is a city of contradictions where everything seems possible. I discover something new every time I visit.

Chinatown Restaurant
