Granite pedestal
Facing the Mateus Parish Church and its cemetery is a monument dedicated to Jerome Amaral. It is simply a granite pedestal on which is placed the bust, made of bronze, of the Jesuit priest and Bishop of the Diocese of Vila Real who dedicated his life to the community. It is placed here because it's where he was baptized in the year 1859. There is a commemorative plaque on the facade of the church.
