North Bridge

North Bridge links the medieval part of Edinburgh with the new part of the Scottish capital. It was built in 1772 and extended a century later, before being completely rebuilt in 1877. From the North Bridge you have a very nice view of the city. Then you can see in the distance the other hills of the city, with fortifications to fight before the invasions, the old town, the castle and cathedral, and the University of Edinburgh, one of the most prestigious at the time, and side of the new city's lively Princes Street, with its shops and luxury hotels. If you want to see the bridge itself, you can watch from the esplanade of Princes Street.
