St Peter's Church

St Peter's is an Anglican church in Brighton. It is a parish church built in the nineteenth century by the architect Sir Charles Barry. It has a pre-Victorian Gothic style, and has been the main church in Brighton since 1873. It is a protected historical monument. The early church was a simple chapel, associated with St Nicholas church, the oldest in the city. Barry was inspired by the late Gothic style of the fourteenth and fifteenth century and dedicated the church to St. Peter. At that time, the place was the entrance to the city, but is now in the center of Brighton. It was consecrated in 1828.
