The atmosphere of this restaurant is superb. it offers sumptuous décor with a magnificent view of Gralin square, especially at night when the Opera is illuminated. However, the waiters will judge you if you do not wear a tie, and may speak to you and serve you differently. However,the service is quite fast. As for the food, there are other cheaper restaurants in Nantes that are far better. You will be paying more for the views and décor than for the food, but it is a landmark of Nantes that has to be visited.
If you are like me and you don´t have any ideas for Sunday night dinner, you should remember this place: Tabl'O Gourmand! It is an old restaurant with large wooden tables. Everything is great and it´s also perfect for breakfast or a snack. It´s open every day and is distinguished by the quality of its products and caring environment.
The prices of this restaurant of really decent. You get an appetizer, a main course, and a large dessert for 60 euros for two people. We left feeling very satisfied. But the concept of cooking meat yourself on a small grill and the fact that the chips got cold too fast (we ate on the terrace), would not let me enjoy the food as much as I wanted. Also, be careful with the wind: the barbecue ashes blow onto your plate! I recommend it, but its not a restaurant to go to all the time.
Don´t be fooled by thinking that this is a Chinese restaurant just like all the others...it isn´t at all. Le Song offers a nice selection of fine dishes prepared with finesse and a mix of sweet and salty in the garnish or in the spices. The menu is traditional but these original dishes are made even more desirable for your palate. The atmosphere is intimate and conducive to enjoying your meal. The quality and the price is reasonable and I am surely not the only one ve thinks so!
The Fraiseraie is an obligatory stop for something sweet in the Pornic. It's in the plaza Petit Nice, near the castle of Gilles de Rais, overlooking the harbor. It is an ice cream parlor, which also has stores in Nantes and La Baule. Previously, it was a producer of strawberries, hence its name. My favorite combination is a strawberry and mango cone. They are very creamy and have delicious Italian ice creams like strawberry islands and coconut. It is customary to eat ice cream at the famous "mur of lèche" opposite the ice cream parlor but you can also walk to Noëveillard beach. In the shop you can buy local products such as jam and cocktail snacks. You can even take an icy creation home for dessert for the whole family to enjoy!
This bar is in Pornichet port, it's open Wednesday to Sunday, from Easter to All Saints Day, and every day in July and August from 16.30. It is a liquor store that serves West Indies cocktails with delicious hake and a spicy salsita that I never tire of eating. Among the cocktails the highlights are mojitos, Island Planters, punch, caipirinhas and daiquiris. As they are very strong I recommend drinking in moderation. There mocktails like the mojito light or light Planter Island, which can be accompanied with a few slices of salami. There are concerts in the bar on Friday and Saturday nights, starting at 21.30. In summer the terrace is very pleasant for having a drink in the sun, or on a wooden table or over a barrel, as in Bidule. There is a friendly atmosphere and it's a good place to go after a day at the beach, for a pre-dinner walk or just to enjoy a drink. Finally, one last important thing: wifi is free for customers.
La Bodega is a tapas bar in Nantes. You can also dine and taste the ham specialties created by the boss ve will welcome you with his famous "Ola!". The tapas are good and a decent price. If the room is a little small it is possible to sit out on the terrace and try the famous "porrones ", mixed with alcohol to drink in glasses the size of jugs. I recommend it for spending a night among friends.
Being here is like being at Grandma's house! Everything is very simple: A single daily dish, always. On Tuesday, it's skewered fish with ginger, on Wednesday, chicken colombo, on Thursday, pot au feu, and so on, always adapting to the recipes of the seasons. Follow the chef's suggestions regarding drinks, bottle for bottle.
My brother and my sister went to dinner at this restaurant and were thrilled. They sat next to the piano for a tête-à-tête. It is clear that they will go back again; they loved the cuisine and ambiance of this place. However, you have to make reservation. In my opinion, the welcome they give us was very nice, and they offer additional services for special occasions like anniversaries. It is a great bar-restaurant for dates, or to go out with friends.
During a break in a typical neighborhood of Nantes, I was surprised to find a Lebanese restaurant! The decor was breathtaking, with stone walls, large red curtains that give the impression of going back in time. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food; I was afraid of being disappointed again by these types of restaurants, but I wasn't disappointed at all. I recommend that you go in groups, to be able to test all the Mezze!
In the heart of Nantes, near the Place Royale, there is a trendy bar called the Café Royal. At lunchtime it becomes a beer bar. The terraces are welcoming during the summer months, but they fill up quickly. The only problem is that the coffee is pretty expensive, and the environment too "posh" for my taste.
This is an Italian restaurant that stands out among the rest: the décor is modern (which is a great change from the traditional red and white checkered tablecloth), and the menu has a very rich variety of dishes, unlike the classic pizzas that we all know! I have not tried them all, but the dish I did try was delicious! The prices are also very affordable (especially compared to the quality of the dishes) and the service was very friendly. Therefore, it is definitely recommended!
La Baule is famous for its beaches and it also has numerous restaurants located directly on the beach, with oceanfront terraces. The Season's is one of them. It's right on Benoit beach, which is one of the quietest and most beautiful in the bay. It's just feet away from the Casino and 10 minutes away from the famous De Gaulle Avenue. Its modern interior decoration turns heads and tempts you to taste some of their delicious dishes that are all based on in-season produce. They have several menus, including one for children, and the average price of a dish is between 15 and 20 euros. The restaurant specializes in fish, and proposes a creative cuisine. I especially enjoyed the chef Cotriade both the flavors and its presentation. And all this watching the Punta Penchâteau. We couldn't have asked for more! The restaurant is worth a stop to enjoy a magical moment before going for a walk along the water.
If you are going to visit the theme park Puy du Fou, I recommend that you make a stop at this pizzeria which is situated at the entrance of the village, next to the roundabout. The roundabout is very easy to spot as it has an arch in the middle. The pizzeria is open in the months of summer (mid-April to late September). It serves salads, sandwiches, paninis, and pizzas. I've only tried the pizzas and they are delicious, made with produce from the house and very well priced (from € 5.60 to € 9.00) The onlything is that they close at 2230!
Oh it is hard to stand before Maison Larnicol and not buy anything! It's on the ground floor of the famous Pommeray Passage, the store was recommended by an inhabitant of Nantes and there is no doubt that this person knows his city! Chocolates of all kinds populate and a showcase heralding the delights you'll find inside - fine chocolates (and somewhat expensive) that one selects like a "self-service". For chocolate lovers it's a good place, but for others too since they have typical cookies of Nantes and Brittany: "palet breton" a thick butter cookie and "kouignettes" a "mini" version of "kouign-love" . It is best not to go if you're dieting because these things are quite potent in calories - but also in taste! A good place to buy a snack that is somewhat typical, rich and downtown!
The Le Prieuré restaurant is one of my favorite places to eat in the Pays de la Loire region. It is a must if you do the route of the "Loire by bike", since this castle-hotel is perched on a hill which overlooks the river has wonderful views. The attentive service at Le Prieuré is a 'extra' to take into account, you receive personal attention at all times. The simple and elegant terrace restaurant offers a place of tranquility coming from the forests which surround the Loire. The lounge, with its large windows, is decorated with great detail and expertise. And the food ... what about the menu?! The dishes are excellent and are all prepared using local produce. What I loved was a salad of salmon, cheese and seeds. In Le Prieuré restaurant you can enjoy the view as well as the taste and smell. It is a luxury to eat in this impressive castle hotel built in the XVI century.
The Transatlantique is one of the restaurants that is located in the harbor of Jard-sur-Mer. The menu proposes dishes, such as, seafood: mussels with different sauces and chips, calamari, salmon, tuna, salads and entrees based on fish and seafood. The price is reasonable, and there is a very nice view. Yes, if you arrive in full summer season at rush hour, you will have to fight or wait to get a table on the outdoor terrace, and the service, friendly, and fast. In short: good price, nice place, good food. I recommend you visit.
What I like most about this restaurant is its very unique decoration which is entirely made up of retro posters. It also has some old lamps, and a little model railway track. I love the menu, with a lot of different options; I recommend the foie gras. The dessert cake seemed like it might be boring, but it was actually delicious. I recommend it!
