I would sleep in the hotel for a whole week just to be able to have lunch every day in this restaurant. It is one of those places in which, as soon as the dishes are served, you feel the 'love' with they were made.
You will not taste a better tuna. One day in Zahara de los Atunes has no sense without visiting Antonio's restaurant.
If you come over, here is the plan: check out the forecast, in case there's easterly wind I would not advise to come. Then, call to make a reservation, get to Zahara around 12:30 and go to the beach close to the restaurant. I think it is one of the best beaches of Spain, with kilometers of white and fine sand that has a perfect temperature in summer. The best of this beach is that it's not full: sometimes, you can even be alone 50 meters round. Just a pleasure. Crystalline water, of course.
In Antonio's Restaurant, the speciality is tuna and every kind of fish. I advise to take tuna assortment, with four toasts and the different parts of tuna organized by flavours, from the softer to the hardest. The waiter will explain it.
After that, you can ask for schrimp's tortilla, one of the emblems of the restaurant. They are really good. To end up with the starters, a good choice may be the anchovies.
Last time I went there I ordered sea bream and loved it. They take care of every little detail and you can appreciate this even in the olive oil that's served with the fish. Plus a good wine, a cold beer or some sparkling water, and you will love it.
About the dessert, what I liked the most was the waiter telling us the menu. "Special dessert, but not homemade...", he said. However, it was really good. Tiramisu was homemade, indeed, and also really good. I always choose lemon sorbet and surprisingly, it was the best I'd ever tasted.
All of this plus amazing sea views will make you feel completely relaxed. The service was perfect as well. Moreover, it is not really expensive.
During the day this place is a good beach restaurant (more of a snack bar) serving the best of fresh fish available in Zahara and the port of Barbate, you can eat the most typical food of Cadiz, the service is unique and special, the staff are the best. At night it becomes more of a bar with the best cocktails and Gin and Tonics. Live music ranges from flamenco, pure and elf, and also Chillout nights with DJs. highly recommended!
This bar serving fried food, located next to the beach, is a good place to enjoy lunch or dinner. The typical thing to order here is the fried fish (try the cuttlefish and nettles). The service is fast and efficient. They sometimes have cool flamenco performances. It is also pretty cheap.
We came to this restaurant because we had heard some great reviews from other people that had been there for dinner. The service was correct, although we did not ask for any suggestions. For starters we ordered a salad with goats cheese, walnuts and honey, which we found to be a bit poor in terms of the ingredients, but when we tried it we realized that this was not the case, but that rather it had masked the flavors you really want to stand out, and actually it was really, really good. For the second course we ordered a tuna tataki which was very juicy, but we thought it needed some sesame, which contributes to the pleasant texture of these dishes. Finally we were served a plate of very tasty tuna, the best we have eaten. The service was successful and the value very good. We paid 45 euros (without wine or dessert)
5 km from Zahara, in the direction of Bologna or Tarifa, we found the La Zarzuela (officially belonging to Tarifa but for most of the effects linked to Zahara) and a newly opened pizzeria "El Patio". Mari Luz and her partner Gonzalo have opened this charming pizzeria which will soon take its place among the famous pizzerias of Zahara. The quality of the food and service are the highlights of this place ... a wood stove produces delicious thin-crust pizzas which are very crispy. The Zarzuela is an alternative to visit for lunch, also providing high quality good. Once there, Marisol, Mari Luz and Gonzalo will make you feel at home ... at least this was the case for me. I'm more than sure that this business will be very successful. The pizzeria "El Patio" is a place not to be overlooked.
This establishment is a pure delight for the palate, serving a mix of Argentinan and eastern food ... It also has a rooftop bar with a friendly atmosphere, there are live performances, and DJs that make the evening very enjoyable. Usually open from Easter until October.
