We arrived at Casa Alba before stopping in Segorbe; it is located in the industrial park.
We were surprised to see that it was a spacious and luminous place, with many areas. We thought that the food was going to be the typical traditional food, but this place mixes the traditional food with signature cuisine, achieving an exquisite fusion that I really recommend.
The rice is exquisite.
In Segorbe, capital of Alto Palancia in the Castellón region, this hotel-restaurant offers its services in an 18th century building. It was an old bakery and olive oil factory which has been beautifully restored while still retaining its rustic touches.
In the walls of the basement where the restaurant is located, they couldn’t have tacked on more old, antique objects. They serve roast meats and whole suckling pigs if you order a day or two ahead of time.
The lamb chops are unbeatable and are served grilled with garlic, olive oil, and bread. A true delicacy. The stew is also flavorful and the chocolate cake is finger-licking good. It’s more than recommended. Even if you have to wait (the restaurant is small, after all), it’s worth it.
The La Buena Vida Café is one of the most beautiful places in Segorbe, and it's always very lively. At Christmas the views of the former ducal palace, which is now home to the Town Hall Plaza is lit up and it's beautiful. There are a lot of different types of chocolates in the entryway, but it's a shame that I'm not there more than just once in awhile to try them all.
The staff give excellent treatment, offering a very affordable menu and in a quiet, cool ascetically pleasing environment. The baked rice was delicious. I will frequent again if I ever return to Segorbe.
La Marieta Carrica is a cozy and charming place right in the middle of nature. We ate in luxury and at a very good price, after getting there on the route from the Sierra de Espadan. When we discovered the chill out zone we had a few mojitos and we were delighted. A highly recommendable place.
The Bernini Restaurant in Segorbe can be found right in the center of town in the Alto Palancia region. The restaurant offers creative, high-quality cuisine that's based on traditional Segorbe cuisine. Among its culinary offerings are things like the Olla segorbina presentations, octopus carpaccio, Tuna ventrescas with citrus, cheese with a tomato jam, cod and stone cut ox chops.
