The Olympic Stadium was always one of my favorite places when I visited Barcelona. It wasn't only the pure aesthetics of the stadium, which is located on Montjuic, surrounded by parks, gardens, museums, and one of the best views of the city you can find. It was the significance of the 1992 Olympics, which revitalized Barcelona to be the city we know today.
Of course, Barcelona has always been a center of culture in Europe, but it was the Olympic Games that brought sweeping changes to the city. Old factories were torn down and replaced with the Olympic Village, and man-made beaches were constructed that are still in place today.
It was largely the Olympic Games that molded Barcelona into the touristic capital of the world with which we are now familiar. It is truly an inspiring place, not only in it's beauty, but in it's cultural and historical relevance.
