Just past the border of Portalet below the port you reach Fabrègues. It's here where the box office for the cable car to Artouste ski station is. This box office sells tickets for the cable car and the petit train de Artouste. It lasts about an hour until it reaches Artouste lake. In July and August there are many people but it'ss till worth it because of the travel experience and the spectacular views.
First of all I apologize because I cannot mark this place properly on the map, but if you look online you will have no trouble finding it (Pyrenees National Park, Fabrèges, France). If you visit this spectacular lake, you can board a cable car, which has wonderful views. After this, you take a little train for a journey of about 50 minutes, but the sights are entertaining. The train stops on the slopes of Lake Artouste which is about 2000m deep. Enjoy the views and crystal clear waters. I spent one hour there before going back. Have a look at my photos and judge for yourselves. I hope you like it.
Right on the border between Spain and France, you can see the Midi d'Ossau peak in the background, standing 2884 meters above sea level in the Atlantic Pyrenees. We climbed from the Astu ski resort, through the Ibon de Escalar.
