Tiny Town in Costa Brava with a medieval old town and a lovely wall. Full of bars with character and surrounded by the ocean, quiet, with good environment and great restaurants. Lovely village away from mass tourism in some coastal towns, Tossa is different ...
A coastal town to enjoy a nice day at the beach, good waterfront food. Or why not walk through its streets and its splendid castle, it's an all in one, perfect for the weekend. Away from the stress, the hustle of the big cities ... I recommend climbing to the castle viewpoint on the side facing the bay, it's amazing to sit on a stone bench, fresh country air gives a sea breeze and watch the gulls fly!
This beach is below the towers of the castle that strengthens Tossa de Mar. On this beach, there are good bathrooms, good fishing and good views. Tacristalina water is clean. Tossa de Mar is a great place for a holiday or a good weekend.
A beach to relax and enjoy nature, I recommend it if you want to go away with a good taste in your mouth. 2 months ago I went with my wife and we really enjoyed it, what struck me most was that the beach sand is thick and the depth of the creek, you hardly touch the water and you start to sink. You endure what is necessary to go snorkeling/diving but an underwater camera would be nice to capture the world under the waters of the cove. You can also get up there near the mountain and look down the creek, if you go with children have them at your side for safety. There is a restaurant nearby where you can eat very well.
walk the streets and visit the monuments that there are is a treat for the mind and the spirit. You can go to the coast and crystal clear water and gravel dominate the view. You should visit this place.
Tiny Cala is within the village of Tossa de Marlas. I find it advisable both summer and winter. the Costa Brava is beautiful and especially over the north. Recommend for an area for the beauty of its landscapes.
I was there in February and the place is nice, and the statue dominates the entrance to the bay, then headed down the coast to the restaurant of the same name as the goddess, to eat fish and we watched the distance to the beach and the city walls. Highly recommended. Ideal to go in low season, from April to May.
After Tossa Bay, just after the Sea Beach Shirt, the landscape undergoes a change, with many km of steep coast. Having a look over the promontory that closes the northern side the beach, we found a bank of rocks. They are called Illetas in a cove dominated by steep cliffs. This archipelago of rocks has long been a favorite spot for diving, where divers make their first steps. With calm waters it is a perfect place for snorkeling or scuba diving, but can become a death trap with bad weather conditions.
The maritime lighthouse in Tossa de Mar, in the highest part of the Vila Vella, a building from the early 20th century, has been converted into an interpretation center of maritime signals, a museum that has info about the world headlights. The structure, remodeled, is also a bar, from whose terrace are great views of the Costa Brava.
Taking advantage of vacation earlier this year, we decided to spend the day in Tossa. Even though it was cold, the sun the walk enjoyable. First we went to the center and then to the Vila Viella. In the center we went to the parish, and I followed a familiar ritual my grandmother taught me: When visiting a temple for the 1st time give the 3 graces. I approached the altar and I was surprised to learn the manger built on a boat, was very cute. The nave church with a stunning, side and a very elaborate wood pulpit.
The original location of this boundary cross was holding the Chapel of Our Lady of Mercy, on the edge of what was the fishing town of Tossa in the Middle Ages,. It is next to the entrance gate of the Vila Vella. It is Gothic and late medieval and presents the cross blades shaped lilies. There are images represented, including San Benito, as Tossa depended on the Benedictine monastery.
This chapel is at the point where the cross stood, just where the quarter where fishermen and today starts the shopping area ended. The invocation to the Virgin del Socorro is a sample of the population seafaring tradition. It is a small building with a single nave with a steeple on steeple, originally Renaissance style and later remodeled with baroque decoration, of which nothing remains after the fortunes of civil war. The current interior is simple and bright. It is located in one of the must for touring the historic center, so do not miss it.
