Every summer, the governor of Alaska offers a picnic for all Alaskan citizens. They are carried out in four different cities, Juneau, Anchorage, Palmer and Fairbanks. in Palmer the picnic is in its pavilion and serves food, drink and dessert. Our Governor, Sean Parnell and his family come and visit and participate in local activities. It's fun and free.
The Williams family has had this property in its family for many years and they've kept it open to the public during most of the year. They raise reindeer (which are really just domesticated caribou) and you can touch and feed them. They also have horses you can ride, and for Halloween they offer tours of the farm tractor. For Christmas, Santa Claus always comes here with his sleigh ready to get his reindeer. It's the ideal place to take the kids for a fun day trip.
During the summers in Palmer, every Friday there's a market place which offers all sorts of things, especially local vegetables. The market has local food stalls, clothes everywhere, crafts and lots of other original bits and pieces. It's a fun place to go and spend the day because it's a very rustic and quaint place.
