4 friends went to visit the city and the natural park of Bertiandos Lagoas a few kilometers away. We had been in Ponte de Lima a couple of times before but we were never happy with the food. We decided to try the recommendation Camelo Sasa but were a little disappointed. We tried the Cod "style house Camelo" but it disappointed us a little. It was dry and a little burnt. Not that regretful that we have eaten there, but it was one of those memorable places. The price was not bad. Starters (including ones that were delicious), cod for 4, bread, water and coffee for 41 €. The next time we will try something else.
We had seen this restaurant during a previous visit to this ancient northern town, but this was the first time we tried it and it was a success. It's on the riverside promenade on the corner of a large terrace, in the heart of the Baixa Limia. Sabores do Lima lives up to its name, serving typical Portuguese cuisine with a touch of originality. I was amazed by its beautiful and original presentation. Some of the dishes were served in what they call "espetadas". We had medallions surrounded with bacon and a couple of prawns, and a salad plate besides. We arrived at a good time because a little later it was full of people and we wouldn't have gotten a table. I liked it so much that I promised to go again the next time "I drop by this beautiful medieval village." The restaurant's specialties are the typical Rice sarrabulho, the lamprey, the espetadas and, obviously, the popular "flavors do Lima" cod. There's a good selection of desserts, making it hard to choose, We had the typical creme Leite, a kind of Catalan cake. Very good value for money. Highly recommended if you like food.
The restaurant is in the heart of Ponte de Lima, facing the river, and next to the municipal market. It is a specialty restaurant in Minho, the main dish is cod, lamprey and river fish Lima, the fish is very fresh. The restaurant is over 3 floors, a basement and dining room, which is small and without a view, the ground floor where there is the door and a separate dining room and kitchen, and upstairs, where the dining area is also small but with better scenery and a fantastic river view. Despite being a place that specializes in fish, we chose the meat and it did not disappoint, we had tasty veal chops and lamb and some great appetizers: cod fritters, cheese, olives, etc.. And for dessert the pudding, a specialty of the restaurant, which I recommend. The service, attentive but slow, somewhat justified by the local distribution, being the kitchen on the middle floor, they had to go up and down stairs constantly.
The restaurant is located in the countryside of Ponte de Lima so from the terrace you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Lima River. On our walk along the river, when we went to the Festival of Gardens, we found this resturant and were surprised by its decor and location. We then discovered that the food was as wonderful as the environment. I recommend the favas com smoked roe, bacalao com broa (Portuguese typical food made from corn) and lampreia (a local fish) and the typical dish of Ponte de Lima, rice of sarrabulho.
This is a typical restaurant that was recommended from friends who went to eat and I have to say first of all you need to book on weekends, as the restaurant is not very large and a good part is taken up by a large fireplace. The restaurant Carvalheira is made of stone and wood ceilings, cozy fireplace in a typical house. Regarding the dishes, there is a wide range to choose from. You can find fish such as cod Broa which is a delight, and meat, such as roast veal. All this a fair for the price. As for desserts, "Baba de Camelo" which is a typical Portuguese dessert, although I ordered a tiramusu and my friends cheese and jam, which was a bit pricey. The average price was 25€
Ponte de Lima is the land of knowledge and flavors, with a tasty and varied items in this restaurant you can enjoy regional cuisine such as "Sarabulho rice," a local dish of pork, with pieces of chorizo served in a bowl and in another rice dish. It also has battered cod with onions for who do not like pork and kid even if they had that day. The restaurant has 2 dining rooms and a maximum capacity of 145 people and is in the heart of the village and close to the seafront April 25 (on the bank of the river). Services include anniversary events, like baptisms, etc.. Sundays are busy. It was recommended by a Portuguese couple we met recently in the inland town of Vila Verde, during a Fiesta.
